What you'll do:
As Hardware Manager for Camera and Artificial Intelligence of Things, you will be entrusted with end-to-end responsibility for hardware development across a diverse portfolio of smart surveillance products. Your day-to-day activities will involve close collaboration with engineers from multiple disciplines as you guide projects from concept through mass production. You will evaluate new technologies for feasibility, lead platform design efforts that incorporate state-of-the-art components like SoCs and sensors, and oversee rigorous testing cycles to guarantee reliability. By coordinating with manufacturing teams on pilot runs and yield improvements, you will ensure every product meets exacting standards before reaching customers. Your ability to communicate technical concepts clearly—both internally among colleagues and externally with clients—will be essential in resolving issues swiftly while maintaining project momentum. Success in this role means not only delivering robust hardware solutions but also fostering an environment where knowledge is shared freely and every team member feels supported.
- Oversee the hardware architecture evaluation and specification assessment for Surveillance Camera and AIoT products, ensuring all requirements are met from initial feasibility through to final delivery.
- Lead the design, validation, and optimisation of platforms such as Surveillance Cameras and Doorbells, including integration of SoC, sensors, MIPI interfaces, PMICs, Ethernet/PoE modules.
- Plan and execute engineering verification tests (EVT), design verification tests (DVT), production verification tests (PVT), as well as pilot production tracking to ensure seamless transition into mass production.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on enhancing product yield rates during mass production by identifying bottlenecks and implementing effective solutions.
- Guide a multidisciplinary team through complex project phases by fostering collaboration across departments such as R&D, manufacturing, quality assurance, and customer support.
- Provide expert technical support to clients by addressing specification queries, troubleshooting issues promptly, and ensuring clear communication throughout project lifecycles.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders to manage risk effectively by analysing potential challenges early in the process and developing mitigation strategies.
- Champion best practices in design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for cost (DFC), ensuring products are both innovative and commercially viable.
- Monitor industry trends in ARM SoC platforms (including Ambarella, Sigmastar, Qualcomm, NXP) to inform strategic decisions regarding platform selection and integration.
- Promote a culture of shared learning within the team by encouraging open dialogue around technical challenges and celebrating collective achievements.
What you bring:
The ideal candidate for the Hardware Manager for Camera and Artificial Intelligence of Things position brings extensive experience from the camera device or AIoT industries—particularly within smart home or building contexts—paired with a track record of guiding teams through challenging hardware development cycles. Your background should include significant exposure to ARM-based SoC platforms along with practical know-how in scaling products from prototype through mass production. Beyond technical acumen, your success will hinge on your ability to nurture positive relationships across departments; you understand that great results come from shared effort rather than isolated contributions. Your approach is grounded in empathy—you listen carefully to colleagues’ perspectives—and you thrive when helping others overcome obstacles together. A passion for continuous learning ensures you stay ahead of industry developments while your attention to detail guarantees nothing slips through the cracks during critical project phases.
- Possess at least eight years of experience within the Camera Device or AIoT sector (such as Smart Home or Smart Building applications), demonstrating deep familiarity with industry standards.
- Have a minimum of three years’ experience leading teams or serving as a technical lead on complex hardware projects involving cross-functional collaboration.
- Demonstrate strong proficiency with ARM SoC platforms including but not limited to Ambarella, Sigmastar, Qualcomm, or NXP systems-on-chip architectures.
- Showcase hands-on expertise in managing trial production runs as well as transitioning products into full-scale manufacturing environments efficiently.
- Exhibit thorough understanding of processes related to design for manufacturability (DFM), design for cost (DFC), yield improvement methodologies, and quality control protocols.
- Display excellent interpersonal skills that enable effective cross-departmental communication when solving technical problems or aligning on specifications.
- Bring proven capability in risk management by proactively identifying potential issues during development cycles and implementing preventative measures.
- Demonstrate adeptness at providing client-facing technical support by translating complex engineering concepts into accessible language for non-technical stakeholders.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging trends in camera hardware technology as well as best practices in AIoT device integration.
- Foster an inclusive team environment where collaboration is prioritised over individual achievement.
