What you'll do:
- Define comprehensive test coverage strategies including test jig design, specification limits, and acceptance criteria for engineering validation phases such as EVT, DVT, PVT, and mass production.
- Establish methodologies for validating power stages, control functions, protection features, balancing algorithms, and battery management interfaces to ensure robust performance.
- Drive improvements in design for testability by collaborating closely with hardware, firmware, and system teams to enhance product reliability.
- Architect and integrate advanced test fixtures using load banks, oscilloscopes, DAQs, communication interfaces, and measurement systems for seamless operation.
- Develop automated test sequences utilising SCPI commands, NI VISA protocols, VB/VBScript scripting languages, and internal ATS platforms to streamline testing processes.
- Ensure calibration of test equipment with traceability procedures while maintaining long-term reliability and safety within high voltage validation environments.
- Validate power factor correction stages (PFC), LLC/DC DC stages for efficiency metrics, transient response behaviours, protection mechanisms, thermal profiles, and derating characteristics.
- Characterise battery management system functions including state-of-charge/state-of-health estimation, cell balancing operations, charge/discharge controls, and alarm systems.
- Validate digital communication protocols such as PMBus, CAN/UDS, RS 485/Modbus to guarantee functional integrity and fault tolerance during operation.
- Acquire and analyse test data to identify trends or systemic issues; prepare structured reports for engineering reviews and maintain controlled revision histories of methods.
What you bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering electronics engineering or a related field is required to ensure foundational knowledge relevant to this role.
- At least three years of hands-on experience in power electronics testing specifically involving PSU BBU BMS or energy storage systems demonstrates practical expertise.
- Proficiency with power test instrumentation including AC sources DC loads power analysers digital multimeters oscilloscopes hipots burn-in chambers is essential for effective system integration.
- Experience working with Chroma systems such as ATE AC/DC loads or power meters provides valuable familiarity with industry-standard tools.
- Advanced skills in test automation using SCPI NI VISA VB/VBScript Python or similar scripting tools enable efficient process optimisation.
- Solid understanding of communication protocols like PMBus I²C/SMBus CAN/UDS RS 485/Modbus ensures reliable interface validation across devices.
- Strong abilities in data analysis statistical interpretation technical reporting allow you to deliver clear concise insights that drive decision-making.
- Clear technical communication skills are vital for preparing structured reports facilitating engineering reviews customer discussions factory builds.
