What you'll do:
- Develop comprehensive annual strategies for system administration that align with organisational goals while driving continuous improvement initiatives across all IT operations.
- Establish, document, and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs), policies, technical standards, and audit mechanisms to ensure consistency and compliance throughout the department.
- Plan the structure of the IT team by identifying talent needs, facilitating staff development programmes, conducting regular training sessions, and implementing fair performance evaluation systems.
- Oversee cross-functional collaboration between IT and other departments to enhance project execution efficiency and overall departmental effectiveness.
- Strengthen core infrastructure components—including servers, storage solutions, and digital equipment—to improve system flexibility, scalability, and resilience against potential disruptions.
- Approve and manage system implementation projects as well as procurement processes for hardware and software while ensuring optimal allocation of costs and resources.
- Supervise maintenance plans for all critical systems to guarantee high availability, minimal downtime, and effective resource utilisation.
- Ensure strict adherence to corporate information security policies by implementing protective mechanisms such as redundancy protocols, monitoring tools, patch management processes, and incident response plans.
- Monitor departmental operations to ensure full compliance with ISO 27001 standards, data protection laws, and any other relevant regulations or certifications required by the business.
What you bring:
- Demonstrated experience of more than ten years in information technology roles with at least five years spent managing or supervising teams within complex environments.
- Comprehensive technical expertise in areas such as virtualisation technologies, network architecture design, database management systems, cybersecurity frameworks, and cloud infrastructure solutions.
- Proven ability to develop strategic plans for system administration that drive operational excellence while supporting organisational objectives.
- Strong background in establishing SOPs, policies, technical standards, audit mechanisms, and ensuring their consistent application across teams.
- Experience planning IT team structures including talent acquisition strategies, staff development initiatives, training delivery methods, performance evaluation criteria, and appraisal systems.
- Track record of successful cross-functional collaboration resulting in enhanced project execution capabilities within multi-disciplinary teams.
- In-depth understanding of server infrastructure management including storage solutions and digital equipment integration for improved system flexibility.
- Expertise in overseeing procurement processes for hardware/software acquisitions as well as managing maintenance schedules to maximise uptime.
- Thorough knowledge of information security best practices including redundancy planning, monitoring implementation, patch management routines, incident response protocols.
- Familiarity with ISO 27001 certification requirements along with practical experience ensuring compliance with data protection laws or similar regulatory frameworks.
