Threat Research Lead

A global cybersecurity organisation seeks a Threat Research Lead to drive AI-enabled threat intelligence, lead senior researchers, and advance cybersecurity innovation.

Key responsibilities:

As Threat Research Lead, you will lead threat intelligence strategy, mentor senior researchers, drive AI-enabled research, and translate insights into impactful cybersecurity solutions.

• Team Leadership & Talent Development: Lead and develop a team of senior threat researchers, overseeing hiring, performance, retention, career progression, and technical mentorship
• Research Strategy & Execution: Define and drive research priorities across APTs, malware, vulnerabilities, and threat intelligence, aligning initiatives with business, product, and engineering goals
• AI-Native Operating Model: Champion AI-driven research practices by integrating LLMs, automation, and advanced tooling to enhance analysis, investigations, and operational efficiency
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with engineering, product, and technical leaders to translate threat intelligence into product enhancements and stronger detection capabilities
• Thought Leadership: Elevate the organisation’s security reputation through whitepapers, technical publications, vulnerability disclosures, and presentations at leading industry conferences

Candidate profile:

To excel in this role, you bring deep cybersecurity research expertise, proven leadership experience, strong cross-functional collaboration skills, and a passion for AI-driven innovation and team development.

• 8+ years' cybersecurity research experience, including 2+ years leading or managing research teams, with a strong track record of developing and retaining top talent
• Deep hands-on expertise in Cyber Threat Intelligence, Reverse Engineering, Incident Response, or Vulnerability Research, with the credibility to guide and review complex research
• Strong advocate and practitioner of AI-driven security workflows, with hands-on experience leveraging LLMs, automation, and agentic systems
• Proven ability to define research strategies, prioritise initiatives, influence product direction, and anticipate emerging threat trends
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with experience collaborating across global, cross-functional, and cross-timezone teams
• Fluent English communication skills, with the ability to lead technical discussions and present complex findings to both technical and executive audiences
