What you'll do:
- Design, develop, and maintain Board Support Packages (BSP) and hardware drivers for interfaces such as SPI and I2C to support 5G base station operations.
- Develop, test, and refine boot-loaders, device drivers, and related applications to ensure robust system performance across various hardware platforms.
- Implement and validate networking protocols by conducting thorough testing procedures to guarantee reliable data transmission within complex network environments.
- Collaborate with manufacturing test engineers to establish efficient test stations that facilitate comprehensive product testing throughout the manufacturing process.
- Participate in cross-functional team discussions to align software development efforts with overall project goals and timelines.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to embedded systems, ensuring optimal functionality and minimal downtime during critical phases of product development.
- Contribute to early-stage platform integration by developing low-level driver software and supporting initial system bring-up activities.
- Engage in continuous improvement initiatives by identifying areas for optimisation within existing codebases and proposing effective solutions.
- Document all stages of software development clearly to support knowledge transfer among team members and stakeholders.
- Stay updated on industry trends related to O-RAN specifications and emerging technologies relevant to 5G infrastructure.
What you bring:
- A minimum of three years’ experience working within the Internet or telecommunications industry, demonstrating consistent delivery on complex projects.
- Proficiency in Linux-based software development environments with hands-on experience building scalable solutions for embedded systems.
- Comprehensive understanding of TCP/IP socket programming principles applied within real-world networking scenarios.
- Familiarity with O-RAN specifications is highly desirable; prior involvement in O-RAN protocol development would be advantageous but not required.
- Exceptional C language programming skills are essential; additional experience with C++ is beneficial though not mandatory for success in this role.
- Demonstrated ability working with embedded platforms such as Xilinux or similar architectures, particularly during new platform launches or integrations.
- Experience developing low-level driver software for serial devices, memory modules, microcontrollers, or other embedded peripherals commonly used in telecommunications equipment.
- A proven track record supporting early-stage integration activities including system bring-up, debugging, and validation processes.
