What you'll do:

• Design comprehensive firmware validation plans by reviewing product specifications and firmware design documents to create detailed test suites and edge-case scenarios that ensure thorough coverage.
• Define robust test methodologies for verifying real-time control algorithms, protection logic such as over-voltage, over-current, over-temperature protections, state machines, and fault recovery mechanisms.
• Validate power control firmware behaviours as well as firmware/hardware interactions using advanced laboratory instruments including oscilloscopes, logic analysers, AC/DC sources, and electronic loads.
• Verify embedded communication protocols and telemetry interfaces such as PMBus, I2C, CANbus, UART, and Modbus to guarantee accurate data exchange and diagnostic compliance across all systems.
• Perform rigorous validation on firmware bootloaders and update mechanisms including Firmware Over-The-Air (FOTA) updates and in-field updates while ensuring memory integrity throughout the process.
• Design, develop, and maintain automated firmware validation test scripts using Python or C/C++ to enhance test coverage and improve regression efficiency within bench-top setups.
• Integrate automated test frameworks seamlessly with power testing equipment such as Automated Test Equipment (ATE) or rack test setups to streamline validation processes.
• Conduct root cause analysis on firmware bugs, timing issues, and hardware/firmware interaction anomalies discovered during various prototype stages including EVT/DVT/PVT phases.
• Collaborate closely with firmware developers and hardware engineers to track issues efficiently, reproduce faults accurately, and resolve problems effectively through shared expertise.
• Generate structured test reports along with metric analysis and failure investigation documents for internal design teams as well as tier-1 customers or hyperscalers.

What you bring:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics or a related technical field provides you with the foundational knowledge required for this role.
• Three to six years of experience in embedded firmware testing or software validation ensures you are familiar with industry best practices for quality assurance.
• Solid understanding of embedded C/C++ concepts alongside experience with microcontroller architectures such as TI C2000, NXP or STM32 enables you to navigate complex system designs confidently.
• Hands-on experience verifying embedded communication protocols like PMBus, I2C, CANbus, UART or Modbus allows you to ensure seamless data exchange across devices.
• Strong grasp of power electronics fundamentals—including Switch Mode Power Supplies (SMPS), Power Supply Units (PSU), Battery Backup Units (BBU), Inverters or battery management systems—equips you for effective troubleshooting.
• Proficiency in debugging hardware/firmware issues using oscilloscopes, logic analysers, power analysers or debuggers (JTAG/SWD) supports efficient problem resolution.
• Demonstrated ability to write automated test scripts in Python enhances your capacity for automated testing and data logging within complex environments.
• Excellent analytical thinking skills combined with proven root-cause analysis abilities enable you to identify issues quickly and propose effective solutions.
• Strong cross-functional communication skills empower you to collaborate effectively with diverse engineering teams throughout the development lifecycle.
