What you'll do:

• Designing and simulating complex optical systems using industry-leading software such as FDTD, Ansys Lumerical, Zemax, and Code V to achieve optimal mode-matching, beam shaping, and efficient optical path configurations.
• Collaborating closely with suppliers and manufacturing partners to establish precise alignment tolerances for optical components, ensuring manufacturability and consistent quality throughout assembly processes.
• Developing robust testing specifications for optical assemblies while continuously optimising yield and process efficiency through cooperative efforts with production teams.
• Conducting comprehensive laboratory verification of optical links, transceiver modules, and subsystems by performing detailed tests including Insertion Loss, Return Loss, Crosstalk, and Bit Error Rate (BER).
• Analysing characteristic data from experimental measurements to validate performance against design requirements and support iterative improvements.
• Documenting simulation results, test procedures, and findings in clear reports that facilitate knowledge sharing across multidisciplinary teams.
• Participating in cross-functional meetings to discuss technical challenges, propose solutions, and ensure alignment between design intent and manufacturing capabilities.
• Providing guidance on best practices for optical measurement techniques and equipment usage within the laboratory setting.
• Supporting the integration of new optical technologies into existing platforms by evaluating compatibility and recommending enhancements.
• Contributing actively to communal problem-solving sessions aimed at improving overall product reliability and advancing technological innovation.

What you bring:

• A master’s degree or above in optoelectronics, optics, physics, electrical engineering, electronics or related STEM fields demonstrates your strong academic foundation.
• Solid understanding of geometrical optics principles as well as wave optics concepts enables you to approach complex design challenges with confidence.
• Familiarity with fibre optics and waveguides allows you to address diverse application requirements within modern photonic systems.
• Knowledge of photoelectric transmitters, receivers, and passive optical components ensures you can evaluate system-level interactions effectively.
• Experience in optical design—whether through simulation or hands-on experimental measurement—equips you with practical skills essential for this role.
• Proficiency with at least one major optical simulation software such as Zemax OpticStudio, Ansys Lumerical, Code V or COMSOL supports your ability to model intricate systems accurately.
• Basic knowledge of optical measurement techniques combined with experience using laboratory equipment empowers you to conduct reliable verification tests.
• Ability to communicate findings clearly through written reports facilitates knowledge sharing among team members.
