Cable Development Engineer

• Take full technical responsibility for planning, organising, and conducting complex projects related to the design, fabrication, modification, and evaluation of electrical connectors and cable systems.
• Work collaboratively with key customers and internal management teams to develop bespoke products that meet specific client needs and ensure satisfaction throughout the process.
• Conceive and plan projects involving the definition and selection of new concepts and approaches for connector, cable, and cable system development, including managing component fabrication and prototype assembly.
• Create comprehensive documentation required for product definition and manufacturing such as detailed drawings, material specifications, bills of materials, and process instructions.
• Engage with cross-functional teams across multiple sites to develop solutions that align with customer requirements, cost targets, and programme schedules.
• Leverage global engineering resources by collaborating with other divisions on interconnect product development initiatives aimed at delivering complete solutions.
• Provide accurate product cost data and calculations on various concepts developed within projects to support Product Management and Manufacturing decisions.
• Offer technical support to Sales and Marketing teams by delivering training sessions, presentations, and participating in customer visits as needed.
• Coordinate testing procedures and qualification assessments to ensure product conformity with specifications; evaluate prototypes for quality and performance standards adherence.
• Conduct competitive analysis in partnership with engineers and marketing colleagues to maximise product competitiveness in terms of cost, performance, manufacturability, and more.
