Head of Data Engineering

Our client is a prominent e-commerce platform undergoing a significant transformation to become a technology-driven enterprise, drawing inspiration from global leaders like Amazon. With a current R&D team of approximately 300 to 400 members, it is enhancing its technological capabilities and restructuring its architecture.

What You’ll Do

• Team Leadership & Management: Build and manage a data engineering team of approximately 20 professionals, including 10 to 15 data engineers, focusing on foundational data infrastructure.​

• Data Pipeline & Warehousing: Design, develop, and maintain efficient ETL processes and data warehouse systems, ensuring data accuracy, completeness, and availability.​

• Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with various business units to understand data needs, provide technical solutions, and support data-driven decision-making and strategy formulation.​

• Technical Innovation & Best Practices: Introduce and promote advanced data engineering technologies and best practices to enhance the team's technical prowess and operational efficiency.​

• Data Quality & Governance: Establish and implement data quality standards and governance policies to maintain high-quality and secure data assets.​

• Data Analysis Support: Possess extensive experience in data analysis, providing end-to-end support from ETL, data warehousing to data analysis, ensuring effective utilization of data across departments for business decisions.​

What You’ll Bring

• Educational Background: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Engineering, or related fields.​

• Work Experience: At least 8 years of relevant data engineering experience, with a minimum of 3 years in team management roles.​

• Technical Expertise: Proficiency in ETL process design and implementation, data warehouse architecture, and data modeling. Familiarity with major database systems (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle) and big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark).​

• Programming Skills: Proficiency in at least one programming language, such as Python, Java, or Scala.​

• Communication Skills: Excellent communication and coordination abilities to effectively collaborate with technical teams and business departments.​

• Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to develop and implement effective solutions in complex environments.​

• Data Analysis Capability: Rich experience in data analysis, capable of providing comprehensive support from ETL, data warehousing to data analysis, ensuring effective data utilization across departments for business decisions.​

To enhance logistics efficiency, the company is expanding its logistics centers nationwide, which is expected to be completed in the second quarter of this year and commence trial operations in the third quarter.
