MES Director
An international electronics manufacturer seeks an MES (Manufacturing Execution System) Director in Taiwan to advance its global smart manufacturing strategy and standardise system architecture across international sites.
The role will strengthen production efficiency, system resilience, and operational continuity across global manufacturing operations.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead the global MES and smart manufacturing roadmap, establishing architecture governance and scalable global templates that accommodate local deployment needs
- Oversee MES integration with ERP, PLM, WMS, and shop-floor equipment, applying ISA-95 standards to improve data flow and production efficiency
- Direct multi-site MES deployments across international operations, managing timelines, budgets, resources, project dependencies, and delivery risks
- Establish 24/7 global support frameworks, incident escalation procedures, and high-availability operations to minimise production downtime and accelerate recovery
- Implement ITIL and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices, standardising change management, post-incident reviews, disaster recovery, and operational performance monitoring
- Manage MES vendors, service contracts, operational scope, and service-level agreements (SLAs) to maintain delivery quality and mitigate external dependencies
- Lead cross-border MES teams, develop technical training and global support arrangements, and report project progress, operational KPIs, resource constraints, and risk mitigation plans to executive leadership
Candidate profile:
Essential requirements
- Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science, MIS, Industrial Engineering, Automation, or a related field
- 10+ years’ IT/OT experience in high-tech manufacturing, semiconductor, or electronics assembly, including 8+ years in MES management or director-level leadership
- Proven experience designing global MES templates and leading large-scale, multi-site deployments, with strong knowledge of ISA-95 and integration across enterprise systems and shop-floor equipment
- Expertise in high-availability MES architecture, including clustering, database replication, edge computing, disaster recovery, and operational metrics such as MTTR and MTBF
- Strong project, resource, risk, and vendor management capabilities in 24/7 manufacturing environments
- Fluent Chinese and English, with the ability to lead cross-border meetings, commercial negotiations, and global incident response
Preferred qualifications
- Experience with Siemens Opcenter MES and leadership of cross-border or multi-site engineering teams
- Knowledge of OT cybersecurity, cross-border data compliance, ITIL, SRE, and tiered incident management (L1/L2/L3)
