DBA (MsSQL)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Database Administrator to join a forward-thinking technology organisation in Taiwan. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in an IT environment with a strong client focus, where your expertise will directly impact the performance, reliability, and security of critical data systems.
What you'll do:
As a Database Administrator, you will be entrusted with ensuring the seamless operation of all organisational databases. Your day-to-day activities will involve setting up robust operational standards, enforcing best practices in database design, and implementing stringent security measures to protect sensitive information. You will be responsible for designing reliable backup solutions and configuring automated monitoring tools that keep systems running smoothly around the clock. Working hand-in-hand with development teams, you will provide guidance on schema optimisation while also managing multiple projects simultaneously. Your ability to communicate progress effectively ensures everyone stays informed. By producing detailed technical documentation, you help foster a culture of transparency and continuous improvement. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety in their workday—balancing routine maintenance with innovative problem-solving—and who takes pride in supporting both colleagues and clients through dependable data management.
- Establish and maintain operational standards for all managed databases, ensuring consistency and reliability across the organisation’s data landscape.
- Enforce and enhance database integrity by applying sound design principles and adhering to established database design standards.
- Develop and implement comprehensive data security policies to prevent unauthorised access, aligning with technical specifications and business requirements.
- Design effective redundancy strategies including archiving, backup, and recovery mechanisms to safeguard against data loss or corruption.
- Configure automated jobs to monitor and maintain operational databases daily, proactively identifying issues before they impact users or clients.
- Stay informed about emerging technologies relevant to database management, participating in the development or refinement of internal standards as directed by leadership.
- Collaborate closely with development teams to assist with schema design, ensuring optimal performance for new and existing applications.
- Complete project work and assigned tasks within agreed timelines while keeping all stakeholders updated on progress throughout each phase.
- Take on additional projects as required by business needs, demonstrating flexibility by occasionally working outside standard hours when necessary.
- Produce thorough technical documentation for all aspects of database administration, supporting transparency and future maintenance efforts.
What you bring:
To excel as a Database Administrator in this role, you will bring substantial experience managing enterprise-level databases within a collaborative IT setting. Your background should include establishing best practices for operational excellence while prioritising both data integrity and user accessibility. A deep understanding of security protocols is essential; you know how to develop policies that protect sensitive information without compromising usability. Your approach is methodical yet adaptable—you can design robust backup solutions but also respond quickly when unexpected challenges arise. You thrive when working alongside others: whether assisting developers with schema optimisation or updating stakeholders on project milestones. Your attention to detail shines through in your technical documentation, which helps ensure smooth transitions during upgrades or troubleshooting sessions. Above all else, your commitment to dependability makes you a valued member of any team focused on delivering reliable technology solutions.
