Application Engineer- Power Management
About the Company Our client is a global semiconductor company developing power management solutions for a range of electronic systems. They are looking for an experienced Applications Engineer to work closely with customers and internal engineering teams, providing technical guidance, hardware debugging, and application support throughout the product design and validation process. This role offers hands-on exposure to power electronics, customer design projects, and cross-functional collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
-
Provide hands-on debugging and technical support for power architectures, including DC/DC converters, switching regulators, and buck converter applications.
-
Analyse power performance issues involving schematic design, component selection, PCB layout, thermal behaviour, efficiency, transient response, output ripple, and EMI.
-
Support customers throughout board bring-up, design validation, and product design-in activities.
-
Work directly with customer engineering teams to understand system requirements and recommend appropriate power management solutions.
-
Evaluate customer boards and systems, identify design issues, and recommend improvements to circuit implementation, layout, and component selection.
-
Develop reference designs, application notes, test reports, and technical documentation to support customer implementation.
-
Conduct technical presentations, design reviews, and application training for customers and internal stakeholders.
-
Collaborate with sales, product marketing, design engineering, quality, and field support teams to resolve technical escalations.
-
Share customer feedback and system-level insights with internal teams to support product improvement and future development.
-
Contribute to new product introduction activities, including application validation and technical enablement.
Requirements
-
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
-
At least 5 years of experience in analog circuit design, power electronics, power applications, or a related engineering field.
-
Strong understanding of DC/DC conversion principles, switching regulator topologies, and buck converter applications.
-
Hands-on experience with hardware debugging and laboratory instruments, including analysis of switching waveforms, efficiency, thermal performance, and control-loop stability.
-
Knowledge of PCB layout considerations, EMI/EMC, output ripple, noise, and power supply optimisation.
-
Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and communicate solutions effectively to customer engineering teams.
-
Strong communication skills in English and Mandarin, with the ability to work across customer-facing and internal technical teams.
-
Willingness to provide on-site customer support when required.
-
Experience with server, networking, storage, or other high-performance electronic systems is an advantage.
-
Familiarity with power system architectures, point-of-load regulation, intermediate bus conversion, or digital power communication protocols such as PMBus is a plus.
-
Experience with power simulation, circuit design, thermal analysis, or PCB design tools is beneficial.
