[Global Tech] Senior Android Developer

They are seeking a Software Engineer for Developer Productivity to revolutionise the way mobile and embedded engineers build, test, and deploy software. This role is dedicated to creating high-leverage tools and infrastructure that eliminate friction for internal teams, ensuring that millions of businesses worldwide can accept in-person payments with the same ease as online transactions.

Key responsibilities:

• Build High-Leverage Tooling: Design and maintain the libraries, tools, and infrastructure that power productivity across mobile, backend, and embedded systems
• Optimise CI/CD Pipelines: Lead the improvement of build systems and automated test infrastructure for SDKs, Android applications, and firmware
• End-to-End Ownership: Manage the full project lifecycle—from identifying engineering pain points and architectural design to implementation, rollout, and operation
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with mobile engineers and stakeholders to balance competing needs and ensure tools integrate seamlessly into existing workflows
• Technical Mentorship: Promote a high bar for code quality and reliability through code reviews and mentoring team members on best practices for build and release engineering

Candidate profile:

• Proven Experience: At least 6+ years' software engineering experience, with a strong background in backend systems and either Android/mobile or embedded/firmware development
• Infrastructure Expertise: Demonstrated experience building scalable, reliable, and observable services or developer-facing tooling
• Technical Proficiency: Fluency in Java, Kotlin, or Go, and a deep understanding of modern build systems and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions)
• Problem-Solving Mindset: The ability to simplify technical concepts and a strong sense of empathy for the internal developer experience
• Bonus Skills: Experience with Android-specific build tools (Gradle, emulators, device farms) or background in the payments and hardware-integrated systems space
