[Commerce Giant] Senior PHP Engineer

We are looking for a Senior Backend Software Engineer to build and modernize a large-scale B2C e-commerce platform covering membership, seller/buyer services, checkout, and settlement. This is a language-agnostic role for engineers experienced in high-traffic systems who can own architecture, technology selection, development, optimization, and production delivery end to end.

What You’ll Do

• Develop and maintain backend services for a large-scale B2C e-commerce platform.
• Work across membership, buyer/seller services, checkout, settlement, and other core commerce functions.
• Design systems capable of handling high traffic and high concurrency.
• Own requirements analysis, system architecture, technical selection, development, testing, and production deployment.
• Develop new features while maintaining and modernizing existing systems.
• Refactor legacy code and improve system performance and maintainability.
• Participate in future platform and architecture modernization.
• Use AI coding tools where appropriate while independently validating generated code, debugging issues, and assessing technical risks.
• Participate in weekday and weekend on-call rotation.

• Backend expertise in PHP.
• Willingness and ability to work across programming languages as the platform evolves.
• Strong system design, architecture, and technical decision-making capabilities.
• Ability to independently own features from requirements through production.
• Experience with legacy system refactoring and performance optimization.
• Strong understanding of code quality, system stability, scalability, and maintainability.

E-commerce / B2C online product experience is preferred; strong B2B experience can also be considered.
