Senior Backend Engineer (Node.js)

Key responsibilities:

• Design and develop scalable backend architecture using Node.js, focusing on performance, reliability, and maintainability
• Build and optimise RESTful APIs and manage database schemas to support efficient, scalable data and system integration
• Develop and enhance internal systems while refactoring legacy platforms to improve structure and performance
• Write clean, maintainable code and conduct code reviews to ensure high-quality engineering standards
• Evaluate technical trade-offs, collaborate with the team, and contribute to continuous improvement through knowledge sharing and best practices

Candidate profile:

• 5+ years of backend development experience with strong expertise in Node.js and related frameworks
• Solid experience designing RESTful APIs and working with databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB
• Comfortable working in Linux environments with hands-on experience in deployment and system optimisation
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate architectural trade-offs and improve existing systems
• Collaborative, proactive mindset with experience in code reviews; exposure to cloud platforms, containers, CI/CD, or scalable systems is a plus
