An organisation in Taiwan seeks a Backend Team Lead (Golang) to lead engineering, modernise systems, and drive AI-enabled scalable cloud architecture.

Key responsibilities:

As Backend Team Lead, you will lead engineering teams, modernise backend systems, and drive scalable AI-enabled cloud architecture and delivery.

• Lead a cross-functional engineering team (8–12), overseeing talent development, performance management, and Agile delivery improvements
• Drive backend architecture evolution and legacy system modernisation, balancing technical debt with business value
• Own high-concurrency system reliability, including GCP cloud architecture and disaster recovery to ensure 99.9% availability
• Collaborate with product, data, and operations teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions
• Define engineering standards, architecture governance, and technical documentation practices (ADRs, API registry) to ensure consistency and scalability
• Build automated quality systems (CI/CD, testing, linting, code quality gates) and introduce AI-assisted code review to reduce defects and manual effort
• Lead AI-driven engineering transformation, integrating AI into development workflows to improve productivity, quality, and continuous optimisation

Candidate profile:

To excel in this role, you bring strong backend expertise and hands-on GCP/Kubernetes experience, plus ability to drive scalable systems, AI adoption, and cross-functional collaboration.

• Strong backend engineering expertise in Golang (Clean Architecture) or Ruby on Rails, with equivalent experience in Python (Django), PHP (Laravel), Java (Spring), or Rust, and openness to transitioning into Golang/RoR ecosystems
• Hands-on experience with GCP, Kubernetes, Monorepo, and CI/CD automation
• 8+ years’ software development experience, including 3+ years in engineering management roles
• Strong cross-functional communication and coordination skills, with the ability to produce clear technical strategy documentation

AI in Software Development

• Experience implementing AI tools for code review, automated test generation, and architecture suggestions
• Ability to guide teams in using AI tools (models/agents/skills) for refactoring suggestions and automated checks to reduce manual workload
• Ability to design a three-layer framework of “information visibility, architectural boundaries, and automated optimisation” to integrate AI into development workflows
• Experience leading teams from manual development to AI-assisted engineering practices with standardised quality and continuous optimisation

Good to have

• Hands-on experience with Domain-Driven Design (DDD)
• Experience with Event-Driven Architecture (EDA), e.g., Kafka
• Experience in large-scale retail or e-commerce platform development
