US Startup - AI Engineer (VLM/Fully Remote)
A leading AI startup seeks an AI Engineer to bridge learning science and AI, focusing on fine-tuning Vision-Language Models (VLMs) for interpreting procedural videos, within a collaborative, growth-driven environment.
Key responsibilities:
As an AI Engineer Vision-Language Models Fully Remote, you will immerse yourself in the development of state-of-the-art AI solutions that bridge learning science with practical application.
- Build, train, and deploy AI models and algorithms across NLP, computer vision, and other AI-driven services
- Fine-tune and align Vision-Language Models (VLMs) to accurately interpret complex procedural videos and technical demonstrations
- Collaborate with research, engineering, and product teams to develop and deliver production-level AI services
- Maintain, optimise, and continuously extend the capabilities of existing AI systems and services
- Collect, curate, and organise datasets for model training, validation, and performance improvement
- Participate in system design discussions, evaluations, code reviews, and technical documentation
- Troubleshoot system issues and actively contribute within an agile development environment, incorporating feedback for continuous improvement
Candidate profile:
Your proven track record as an AI Engineer Vision-Language Models Fully Remote demonstrates your ability to navigate complex technical challenges while fostering positive relationships within diverse teams.
- Master’s or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field; Bachelor’s degree with relevant industry experience also considered
- Proven experience fine-tuning and aligning LLMs or Vision-Language Models (VLMs) for domain-specific performance optimisation
- Strong expertise in machine learning, deep learning, and AI model architectures
- Hands-on experience with at least one major deep learning framework such as PyTorch or TensorFlow
- Strong Python programming skills for building scalable AI solutions
- Familiarity with Linux-based development environments and workflows
- Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, teamwork, time management, and communication skills; working proficiency in both Chinese and English
- Experience working in agile software development environments using tools such as Jira and Git
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and modern software development practices
- Experience with containerised application development using Docker and/or Kubernetes
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) and ability to deliver production-level code is a plus
