FW FAE (Wireless Charging IC/ PD)
About the Company Our client is a global semiconductor company developing advanced solutions for power management and connected electronic devices. As part of its continued growth, the company is looking for an experienced Firmware Application Engineer to join its wireless power technology team in Taipei. This role offers the opportunity to work across embedded firmware, semiconductor development, and system-level applications while collaborating with hardware, IC design, validation, and customer-facing teams. You will contribute to product development from early-stage engineering through customer deployment and production support.
What you'll do
As a Firmware Application Engineer, you will develop and optimise embedded firmware for wireless power solutions, working closely with hardware and IC development teams to ensure robust system performance.
You will be involved throughout the product lifecycle, from initial development and silicon validation to customer support and production. The role combines hands-on firmware development with system debugging and cross-functional collaboration.
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop, debug, and maintain embedded firmware for wireless power semiconductor products.
- Implement control functions, communication protocols, and system-level algorithms to optimise product performance and reliability.
- Develop low-level drivers and firmware functions for MCU peripherals and hardware interfaces.
- Support silicon bring-up, firmware validation, system integration, and performance tuning.
- Work closely with IC Design, Hardware, Validation, Applications, and other engineering teams to resolve system-level issues.
- Conduct system debugging and root cause analysis using oscilloscopes, logic analysers, protocol traces, system logs, and other debugging tools.
- Support product validation and interoperability testing across different platforms and applications.
- Provide technical support for customer projects from early development through product validation and production.
- Analyse and resolve firmware-related issues during product development and production phases.
- Maintain firmware documentation, test reports, release notes, and development records.
- Collaborate with international teams and customers on technical issues and product development activities.
What you bring
The successful candidate will have a strong background in embedded firmware development and an understanding of semiconductor or electronic systems. You should be comfortable working close to hardware and have experience troubleshooting issues at both firmware and system level.
Requirements include:
- Bachelor's degree or above in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- 3+ years of experience in embedded firmware development or a related engineering role.
- Strong programming skills in Embedded C/C++.
- Solid understanding of embedded systems and MCU architectures.
- Experience with bare-metal or RTOS-based firmware development.
- Familiarity with common embedded communication interfaces such as I2C, SPI, UART, GPIO, ADC, or PWM.
- Hands-on experience with debugging tools such as oscilloscopes, logic analysers, JTAG, or SWD.
- Experience with system-level debugging and root cause analysis.
- Familiarity with version control systems such as Git or SVN.
- Experience working closely with hardware, IC design, validation, or applications engineering teams.
- Experience in wireless power, power management, consumer electronics, or related semiconductor applications is highly desirable.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English and work with international teams.
