What you'll do:

As a Senior Process Design Kit Design Automation Engineer based in Hsinchu, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the efficiency and effectiveness of integrated circuit development. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve creating robust Process Design Kits that serve as the foundation for accurate chip manufacturing. You will automate key workflows by building scripts and tools that simplify layout generation and verification tasks. By designing parameterised device cells (p-cells), you will contribute to standardising layouts across projects. Maintaining physical verification decks ensures compliance with foundry requirements while configuring EDA environments guarantees smooth operations for all users. Quality assurance is central to your work as you develop automated regression tests that safeguard the integrity of PDKs. Collaboration is integral; you will work alongside multidisciplinary teams to resolve technical challenges and share your expertise with junior engineers. Documentation and training are also essential aspects of your role—your clear communication will help others understand complex processes and adopt best practices.

• Create, validate, and manage Process Design Kits including technology files, simulation models, and design rule decks to ensure accuracy and reliability across all stages of IC development.
• Build scripts and develop automation tools that streamline layout generation, verification, and characterisation processes for efficient workflow management.
• Design reusable parameterised device cells (p-cells) using scripting languages such as Cadence SKILL to enhance productivity and standardisation within design teams.
• Implement and maintain physical verification decks by developing DRC/LVS rule sets using industry-leading tools like Cadence Pegasus, Siemens Calibre, or Synopsys ICV.
• Configure EDA environments by managing tool installations, licenses, and providing technical support to design and layout engineers for optimal system performance.
• Develop automated regression tests that uphold quality assurance standards for PDKs and EDA environments, ensuring consistent results across multiple projects.
• Collaborate closely with process engineers, design teams, and EDA vendors to resolve complex technical issues while sharing experience and best practices with junior engineers.
• Prepare comprehensive documentation detailing PDK usage and design flows; deliver training sessions to empower colleagues with essential knowledge for successful project execution.
