What you'll do:
As a Presales Manager – Fibre Optics and Lab Test Solutions based in Taipei, you will play a pivotal role in supporting customers throughout their journey from initial engagement through post-sales support. Your day-to-day activities will involve working closely with R&D labs and production teams to provide expert guidance on photonic integrated circuit characterisation as well as optimising silicon photonics workflows. You will represent an extensive portfolio of fibre optics lab products—ranging from spectrum analysers to broadband sources—and deliver tailored solutions that meet unique customer requirements. By conducting engaging product demonstrations, leading user training sessions, developing localised documentation, transferring knowledge to sales channels, presenting at industry events, and collaborating across departments to resolve challenges quickly, you will ensure customers receive outstanding support. Success in this role requires a deep understanding of optical technologies combined with strong interpersonal skills; your ability to connect with others will drive positive outcomes for both clients and your team.
- Provide expert support for Photonic Integrated Circuit (PIC) characterisation by assisting customers in testing at both wafer and die levels, ensuring accurate results for advanced optical applications.
- Collaborate closely with probe station partners and laser source integrators to optimise Silicon Photonics (SiPh) testing workflows within diverse laboratory environments.
- Represent the full portfolio of fibre optics lab products including Optical Spectrum Analysers (OSA), fibre inspection tools, power meters, laser sources, IL/RL testers, optical amplifiers, switches, swept wavelength systems, component analysers, tunable filters, polarisation controllers, broadband sources across C&L bands.
- Work hand-in-hand with customers’ R&D teams, New Product Introduction (NPI) specialists, and manufacturing units to deliver tailored optical testing solutions that address real-world requirements.
- Conduct compelling product demonstrations and on-site trials in coordination with sales teams to showcase the value of advanced fibre optic solutions.
- Lead user training sessions for high-end products to ensure customers are equipped with the skills needed for successful testing operations.
- Develop localised test procedure documents that reflect specific customer needs and regional standards.
- Transfer technical competencies and best practices to direct sales representatives and channel partners through educational initiatives.
- Present products and technologies at targeted roadshows or seminars within your region to raise awareness of new advancements.
- Collaborate with Technical Assistance Centres (TAC), sales teams, and divisional colleagues to resolve post-sales issues efficiently while maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.
What you bring:
To excel as a Presales Manager – Fibre Optics and Lab Test Solutions in Taipei, you will bring proven expertise across multiple domains within optical communications. Your academic background in electronics or related engineering fields forms the foundation for your technical acumen. You have hands-on experience working with advanced fibre optic devices—from DWDM systems through high-speed trunk optics—and possess deep familiarity with communication protocols vital for today’s interconnected networks. Your proficiency in automation programming (especially Python) enables you to streamline complex testing workflows while adapting quickly to new technologies. Beyond technical skills, your ability to troubleshoot intricate systems ensures reliable performance under pressure. - Mandatory: Possess a degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering or Instrumentation Engineering (or equivalent qualification).
- Mandatory: Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of general optical fibre technologies including physical layer devices such as DWDM systems (fibre modes, dispersion effects, nonlinear parameters), polarisation management techniques (PDL), switching mechanisms (laser/LEDs), amplifier types (EDFA/SOA/RAMAN), WSS/ROADM configurations, tunable filters, optical spectrum analysis tools, Flex-Grid transponders/muxponders.
- Mandatory: Show proficiency in communication protocols like Ethernet/IP and OTN relevant to modern network infrastructures.
- Mandatory: Exhibit deep familiarity with high-speed optical client/trunk optics such as 400G QSFPDD or CFP2-DCO modules as well as coherent transmission technologies.
- Mandatory: Bring substantial experience in automation skills including SCPI command programming; Python proficiency is essential due to widespread adoption in contemporary labs.
- Mandatory: Have over four years’ experience as a Field Application Engineer or similar role within the test and measurement industry.
- Nice-to-have: Experience troubleshooting complex optical systems using advanced diagnostic tools.
- Nice-to-have: Ability to understand evolving market trends and translate them into actionable reports for internal stakeholders.
- Nice-to-have: Proven track record of transferring technical knowledge effectively through training or educational sessions.
