What you'll do:
As Commercial Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the direction of photonic connectivity solutions across Taiwan, China, and Southeast Asia. Your day-to-day activities will involve engaging deeply with market trends, collaborating with internal teams such as Product Line Management, Marketing, Technology, Research, Sales, and external stakeholders including customers and partners. You will be responsible for mapping out technology roadmaps, identifying capability gaps, recommending new products or enhancements, participating in industry forums, supporting cross-functional teams as a subject matter expert, refining value propositions based on customer insights, estimating addressable markets, building trusting relationships within the CPO ecosystem, mobilising collaborative efforts across geographies, managing complex projects efficiently, and ensuring that commercial strategies are aligned with technological advancements. Success in this role requires you to be highly responsive to market changes while nurturing connections that drive innovation.
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of market needs for applications and technologies by analysing trends within a rapidly evolving competitive framework.
- Contribute to mapping out market trends and technology roadmaps, identifying gaps and making recommendations for new products or capabilities.
- Establish ongoing, trusting relationships with technical counterparts at key customers and partners within the CPO ecosystem to facilitate knowledge sharing.
- Actively participate in relevant standards and industry forums to position your organisation as a strong player in Silicon Photonics and other CPO-relevant technologies.
- Collaborate closely with Product Line Management (PLM) to estimate addressable markets and share potential for CPO solutions.
- Work alongside PLM and Marketing teams to refine value propositions based on deep understanding of applications and use cases for CPO solutions.
- Support PLM, Technology, Research, Sales, and Marketing teams as a commercial technology subject matter expert throughout the lifecycle of all CPO solutions.
- Engage frequently with customers at a technical level to comprehend their needs and convey effective value propositions that foster trust.
- Mobilise cross-functional teams both internally and externally across multiple time zones to meet objectives through collaborative efforts.
- Manage multiple tasks efficiently by prioritising responsibilities in alignment with organisational goals.

- Master’s or Doctorate Degree in Engineering, Applied Science or equivalent fields is required for this role.
- Over ten years’ experience in technology or product development functions within technical or OEM settings is essential.
- Proven track record managing complex projects and leading multi-functional teams collaboratively in competitive environments.
- Experience directly or indirectly guiding teams of technology and product developers through shared objectives.
- Deep understanding of optics, glass materials science, optical fibre properties, and Silicon Photonics is necessary.
- Strong business acumen demonstrated by ability to determine addressable markets using market data combined with technology architecture insights.
- Ability to comprehend impact of technology/product decisions on market adoption rates and product line revenues.
- Familiarity with competitive positioning analysis including identification of capability gaps and roadmap requirements.
- Comfortable engaging frequently with customers at technical levels; able to understand their needs empathetically and convey clear value propositions.
- Excellent collaboration skills across functional boundaries; adept at solving problems together with others from diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to mobilise people within/outside the organisation through gentle influence towards communal objectives.
- Proven self-management skills; able to prioritise multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining focus on team goals.
- Fluency in English with outstanding verbal/written communication skills; clarity in presentations is vital.
