Government Affairs & Public Affairs Director
An organisation seeks a Government Affairs and Public Affairs Director to lead policy advocacy, stakeholder engagement, and strategic external partnerships.
Key responsibilities:
As Government Affairs and Public Affairs Director, you will lead stakeholder engagement, policy advocacy, and regulatory strategy to strengthen the organisation’s market position.
Government Relations & Institutional Engagement
- Build and manage strategic relationships with government agencies, regulators, chambers of commerce, industry groups, academic institutions, and NGOs
- Serve as the company’s lead representative across government, public institutions, and external policy platforms
- Strengthen partnerships with local and international business councils, trade associations, and public-private organisations
- Monitor policy, regulatory, and legislative developments impacting business operations and growth
Public Affairs & Policy Advocacy
- Lead public affairs and advocacy initiatives aligned with commercial, regulatory, sustainability, and reputational priorities
- Represent the company in industry forums, government consultations, roundtables, and association meetings
- Develop policy papers, advocacy materials, briefing notes, and executive communications
- Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure advocacy strategies align with business and compliance objectives
Stakeholder Mapping & Influence Strategy
- Map and prioritise key stakeholders across government, regulatory, industry, academic, and business sectors
- Identify opportunities to strengthen influence through partnerships, coalitions, and policy engagement platforms
- Drive long-term stakeholder engagement plans supporting market access, policy influence, and corporate reputation
Candidate profile:
To excel in this role, you bring proven government affairs, stakeholder engagement, and policy advocacy experience within regulated environments.
- Bachelor’s degree or above in Political Science, Public Policy, Law, Business, Communications, or related fields; advanced degree preferred
- 12–15+ years’ experience in government affairs, public affairs, policy advocacy, regulatory affairs, or stakeholder management
- Strong network across government agencies, chambers of commerce, trade associations, regulators, and industry bodies
- Deep understanding of policy-making, regulatory frameworks, and public sector engagement
- Proven experience engaging chambers, business councils, industry associations, and public institutions
- Background in multinational organisations, consulting, public affairs, or regulated industries is highly advantageous
