What you'll do:

  • Create original fabric designs by exploring new fibres, knit structures, and finishing techniques that align with current market demands and sustainability goals.
  • Oversee the complete product development lifecycle from initial concept through to sample execution, ensuring each stage meets quality standards.
  • Collaborate with sourcing teams to identify suitable materials and suppliers while maintaining a focus on sustainable practices and functional performance.
  • Support all aspects of fabric development including sampling, base testing, lab-dip/strike-off/handloom processes, bulk testing, appearance evaluation, handle assessment, colour approval, garment washing, and garment dyeing.
  • Interpret customer requirements and global fashion trends to transform conceptual ideas into commercially viable products that appeal to diverse markets.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to resolve any technical or production issues related to fabrics throughout the development process.
  • Ensure timely management of project deadlines by prioritising tasks effectively and communicating progress clearly with stakeholders.
  • Maintain meticulous attention to detail when reviewing samples and test results to guarantee consistency and high-quality outcomes.
  • Participate in regular meetings with cross-functional teams both locally and internationally to share insights and drive continuous improvement in fabric innovation.

What you bring:

  • A degree or higher qualification in Textile Design, Fashion Design or a related discipline provides a solid foundation for success in this role.
  • At least two years’ experience in knitted fabric manufacturing and development equips you with practical knowledge of industry processes.
  • Familiarity with sustainable materials demonstrates your commitment to environmentally responsible practices within textile sourcing and production.
  • Comprehensive understanding of fabric construction methods ensures you can contribute meaningfully at every stage of product development.
  • Proficiency in fibre and yarn dyeing techniques allows you to create vibrant, durable fabrics tailored to client specifications.
  • Experience with all-over printing and panel printing techniques enables you to deliver visually striking designs that stand out in the marketplace.
  • Knowledge of finishing processes supports your ability to enhance both the functionality and aesthetic appeal of finished fabrics.
  • Strong organisational skills help you manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines without compromising quality.
  • Meticulous attention to detail ensures accuracy during sample reviews, testing phases, and final approvals.
  • Excellent spoken and written English communication skills facilitate effective collaboration with international colleagues.
