What you'll do:
- Plan, implement, and maintain the organisation’s network infrastructure to guarantee stable and secure connectivity for all users and departments.
- Oversee comprehensive information security measures including firewall configuration, endpoint protection setup, data backup strategies, vulnerability remediation processes, access control policies, permission management protocols, incident response procedures, and conducting basic security audits.
- Install, administer, monitor, and optimise Linux servers (RHEL/Rocky Linux), ensuring high availability through performance tuning, regular backups, and efficient daily operations.
- Deploy, upgrade, and maintain IC design EDA tools such as Synopsys and Cadence along with FlexLM License Servers to provide uninterrupted support for engineering workflows.
- Manage core internal IT services including email servers, calendar solutions, web hosting platforms, and secure VPN remote access for distributed teams.
- Administer cross-platform file servers (NFS/Samba), facilitating secure data sharing between Linux compute clusters and Windows-based users while enforcing appropriate access controls.
- Deliver responsive end-user technical support in a predominantly Windows environment by troubleshooting hardware issues, supporting operating system functionality, installing software applications, and resolving user queries efficiently.
- Provide IT support for server rooms and laboratory equipment by managing physical assets, tracking inventory accurately, and assisting with maintenance or upgrades as needed.
- Collaborate with other departments on cross-functional IT projects to enhance overall operational efficiency and address emerging technology needs.
What you bring:
- Demonstrated experience in planning and maintaining complex network infrastructures within medium to large organisations.
- Proven track record in implementing robust information security practices including firewalls, endpoint protection solutions, backup systems, vulnerability management techniques, access control mechanisms, incident response plans, and conducting basic audits.
- Hands-on expertise with Linux server administration (preferably RHEL or Rocky Linux), covering installation procedures, system monitoring tools, performance tuning methods, backup routines, and routine operational tasks.
- Familiarity with deploying IC design EDA tools such as Synopsys or Cadence as well as managing FlexLM License Servers to support engineering requirements.
- Comprehensive understanding of core IT service deployment including email platforms (e.g., Exchange), calendar integration solutions (e.g., Google Workspace), web server management (e.g., Apache/Nginx), and VPN configuration for secure remote access.
- Experience administering NFS/Samba file servers for secure data sharing between heterogeneous computing environments while enforcing granular access controls.
- Ability to deliver effective technical support in Windows-based settings by diagnosing hardware faults, supporting operating system functions (Windows 10/11), installing software packages efficiently, and resolving user-reported issues courteously.
- Knowledge of best practices for managing server room infrastructure including equipment installation standards, asset inventory tracking systems (e.g., CMDB), preventive maintenance schedules, and laboratory device support protocols.
- Excellent interpersonal skills enabling you to collaborate effectively with colleagues from diverse backgrounds on cross-functional projects.
