Keywords: Android, BSP, Kernel A leading technology company in Taipei is seeking an Android BSP Engineer to join their talented engineering team. This role offers you the opportunity to work at the intersection of hardware and software, maintaining the stability of an existing device fleet while driving the development of next-generation platforms.

What you'll do:

  • Investigate complex field issues across multiple system layers using advanced diagnostic tools such as Android bugreports, logcat, and dmesg to drive defect resolution with external partners.
  • Correlate telemetry data from Splunk with real-world incidents and reproduce failures in laboratory settings using specialised memory, network, and graphics stress-testing tools.
  • Monitor stability metrics for device fleets and develop lab-based simulations to validate both hardware and software reliability under various conditions.
  • Participate in new product bring-up activities by integrating peripherals in direct partnership with hardware teams and external vendors, ensuring seamless platform launches.
  • Develop, port, and adapt Linux kernel drivers while modifying device trees based on datasheets to support evolving hardware requirements.
  • Create Android OS APIs (AIDL, JNI, SYSFS) that expose hardware capabilities to application layers while maintaining strict SELinux security policies for robust system protection.
  • Maintain AOSP build configurations (Android.bp/mk) and optimise Jenkins CI/CD pipelines to improve build reproducibility and streamline multi-product workflows.
  • Develop automated test suites for validation of BSP features and core platform functionality to ensure consistent quality across releases.
  • Deconstruct abstract requirements into actionable Jira stories by providing clear technical evidence for design decisions related to system architecture and security.
  • Drive technical proposals and project updates for global stakeholders via Jira, Slack, and asynchronous written English communication for effective collaboration with ODM/SOC partners.

What you bring:

  • You have over 3 years of experience working with Android OS in a Linux Kernel environment, demonstrating deep familiarity with low-level system operations.
  • Your systemic triage skills enable you to isolate root causes using diagnostic tools such as adb, fastboot, bugreports, logcat, ensuring swift issue resolution across the stack.
  • You possess proven experience collaborating with internal teams as well as external partners including ODMs and SoCs to track defects through to resolution.
  • Your technical depth includes proficiency in C/C++ development coupled with strong debugging abilities within the Linux Kernel environment.
  • You are adept at reading schematics and partnering closely with hardware teams during device bring-up processes and peripheral integration activities.
  • Your background includes adding software components to operating systems as well as managing build infrastructure, packaging, and deployment within AOSP environments.
  • You are proficient with modern tooling such as Git for source control management along with code review workflows using Gerrit or GitHub.
  • You demonstrate a passion for solving large-scale hardware and software challenges that directly impact customer satisfaction through reliable products.
