What you'll do:

  • Confirm RFQ specifications and assess feasibility by conducting detailed disassembly, architecture analysis, design planning, and industrial design coordination.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to address challenges related to product appearance, component selection, spatial constraints, and thermal management to ensure robust mechanical performance.
  • Select appropriate materials and design processing flows aimed at enhancing production efficiency while reducing overall costs.
  • Engage with manufacturers to discuss mould structure design, oversee mould opening processes, participate in mould trials, and review modifications for optimal outcomes.
  • Analyse products for compliance with relevant certifications such as IP, IK, UL, vibration resistance, and hot/cold shock standards.
  • Support DFM (Design for Manufacturability) and DFA (Design for Assembly) initiatives while driving yield improvements during project trial production phases.
  • Assist in scaling up projects from trial runs to mass production by providing technical guidance and troubleshooting support.
  • Document engineering decisions thoroughly to maintain clear communication channels between departments throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Contribute insights into process optimisation based on hands-on experience with plastic, die-casting, stamping, rubber, and other related moulds.
  • Participate actively in regular project meetings to ensure alignment on timelines, deliverables, and quality expectations.

What you bring:

  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical and Electronic Engineering which provides a solid foundation for understanding complex mechanical systems.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with PRO/E or PTC/Creo Parametric software tools essential for effective design work within the organisation’s workflow.
  • Possess more than three years of relevant experience ideally involving AIoT devices, IP cameras or system-level product development which enables you to contribute valuable insights from day one.
  • Showcase familiarity with the development processes associated with plastic injection moulding, die-casting techniques, stamping operations as well as rubber component fabrication.
  • Exhibit strong problem-solving abilities when addressing issues related to product appearance, parts selection or space limitations within intricate assemblies.
  • Display excellent communication skills that facilitate smooth collaboration across departments including engineering teams and external manufacturing partners.
  • Bring hands-on experience in reviewing mould structures from initial design through modification stages ensuring manufacturability without compromising quality standards.
  • Understand certification requirements such as IP ratings or UL compliance so you can effectively analyse products against these benchmarks before release.
  • Demonstrate commitment to continuous improvement by supporting DFM/DFA efforts along with yield enhancement initiatives during pilot production phases.
  • Maintain meticulous documentation practices that support transparency throughout the entire engineering process.
