Salary Survey 2018: Digitalisation and innovation will fuel Taiwan recruitment across multiple industries

Fuelled by a myriad of factors, Taiwan's job market began 2017 with a positive business environment and hiring levels. Some of these factors included the increase in global demand for Taiwan exports to a three-year high, the government's 'Asian Silicon Valley' strategy that is driving foreign investment in the region, and the rapid adoption of digital innovation and e-commerce.

Hiring IT talent will be high on the agenda

Technological innovation in Taiwan is set to gather further pace and encourage the hiring of IT talent across multiple industries in 2018 as companies look to maintain their competitiveness and cost efficiency. Technology professionals with niche and emerging skills sets, including AI, Internet of Things, virtual reality, and robotics will be highly sought after. Also, the ongoing digitalisation and automation of operational processes will generate strong demand for specialists that show a willingness to up-skill in order to drive digital-transformation projects. Salary increments in the IT sector are expected to vary greatly according to the particular skills, with average salary increments of 15 - 20% when changing jobs.

IT skills in high demand across key sectors

On the accounting & finance side, with the growing adoption of technology and e-commerce, companies are increasingly relying on data in their decision making. Thus, many finance leaders will seek to boost their teams with talent that can improve analytical problem-solving, along with those who have high-performance communication skills to support business decision-making and collaboration with a variety of internal stakeholders.

In the sales and marketing industry, the technology industry is one of the key drivers for steady recruitment activity. Experts in digital marketing, e-commerce, website/application development, social media management and data-driven marketing analysis will be among the most sought after.
