What you'll do:
- Design comprehensive CDP architectures and develop scalable data models that integrate multiple internal and external data sources to support marketing automation initiatives.
- Build, optimise, and maintain high-performance data pipelines using both real-time streaming technologies like Kafka or Flink and batch processing frameworks such as Airflow for various e-commerce scenarios.
- Develop robust and scalable data lakes or warehouses utilising technologies like Delta Lake or Snowflake to ensure low latency and high throughput for analytics workloads.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including data scientists, marketers, and product managers to deliver impactful data-driven solutions that enhance customer experience.
- Implement rigorous data governance practices to ensure compliance with relevant privacy regulations while maintaining high standards of data quality.
- Monitor system performance proactively and troubleshoot issues within the data infrastructure to guarantee reliability and efficiency in all processes.
- Lead efforts in optimising existing analytics workflows or pipelines to improve system efficiency and drive measurable improvements in key business metrics.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging trends in big data engineering, cloud computing, and e-commerce analytics to continuously enhance the organisation’s capabilities.
- Mentor junior team members by sharing knowledge on best practices in data engineering, pipeline optimisation, and privacy compliance.
- Document architectural decisions, workflow processes, and compliance measures clearly for both technical stakeholders and non-technical partners.
What you bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field; an advanced degree is highly desirable for deeper technical leadership.
- At least 8 years’ proven experience in big data engineering or large-scale processing environments with direct exposure to e-commerce use cases.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java or Scala combined with hands-on expertise in Apache Spark for distributed computing tasks.
- Demonstrated ability to build real-time streaming applications using Kafka or Flink as well as manage batch workflows via Airflow.
- Extensive experience architecting scalable cloud-based solutions on AWS, GCP or Azure including deployment of modern data lake/warehouse platforms like Delta Lake or BigQuery.
- Track record of implementing robust data governance frameworks ensuring full compliance with GDPR, CCPA or similar privacy standards within complex organisations.
- Practical knowledge of CI/CD methodologies applied to big data engineering projects for streamlined development cycles.
- Demonstrable success optimising analytics pipelines or workflows resulting in tangible improvements to system performance or business KPIs.
