Head of Data Engineering

Our client is seeking a Head of Data Engineering to lead the design and implementation of a scalable data infrastructure. This role will focus on managing high-volume, real-time transaction data and optimizing data storage and processing to support a fast-growing crypto exchange. Ihey prefer a hands-on leader with deep expertise in data architecture, real-time processing, and compliance.

What You’ll Do (Responsibilities)

• Architect and implement high-performance data systems for transactional, market, and user behavior data.
• Develop real-time data pipelines to support crypto transactions and market feeds.
• Design secure and compliant data storage solutions aligned with industry regulations.
• Optimize cost-effective data infrastructure using partitioning, sharding, and compression.
• Lead and mentor a team of data engineers, fostering a culture of excellence.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align data strategies with business goals.

What You’ll Bring (Requirements)

• Proven experience leading data engineering teams in high-frequency trading, fintech, or crypto.
• Expertise in real-time data processing frameworks (e.g., Kafka, Flink, Spark Streaming).
• Strong knowledge of distributed databases (SQL/NoSQL) and big data storage.
• Experience with data governance, compliance (GDPR, AML/KYC), and security best practices.
• Proficiency in Python, Java, or Scala for data engineering tasks.
• Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and microservices.
