What you'll do:

As Head of Engineering based in Taipei City, you will play a pivotal role in shaping both the strategic vision and day-to-day execution of the R&D department. Your responsibilities will span from providing hands-on technical leadership—ensuring robust system design—to nurturing a collaborative culture where every team member feels supported. You will guide teams through complex challenges using your expertise in backend technologies while also managing operational excellence across multiple disciplines. By working closely with other departments such as Product, Operations, B2C/B2B Sales, and Customer Service, you will ensure seamless project delivery aligned with business goals. Your ability to introduce practical process improvements will help elevate productivity and maintain high standards throughout the engineering lifecycle.   • Provide hands-on technical guidance by leading system design and making key architectural decisions for major projects that underpin the organisation’s core products.
  • Mentor and support teams specialising in .NET, Java, and Golang development to ensure robust architecture and adherence to high coding standards.
  • Continuously review system performance, reliability, and scalability while proposing actionable improvements that enhance overall product quality.
  • Collaborate closely with team leads to resolve complex technical challenges efficiently and nurture a culture of open communication and shared problem-solving.
  • Oversee daily operations for a multidisciplinary team exceeding 50 members across Backend, Frontend, App Development, Quality Assurance, Project Management, and Artificial Intelligence.
  • Facilitate weekly check-ins with teams to set clear expectations, align priorities, and ensure timely delivery of high-quality work.
  • Coach team leads to develop their problem-solving abilities and encourage ownership while fostering an inclusive and positive working environment.
  • Partner with HR on hiring strategies, onboarding processes, and internal talent development initiatives that support long-term growth.

  • Exceptional communication skills enabling you to bridge gaps between technical staff and non-technical stakeholders for smooth project execution.
  • Demonstrated sense of ownership combined with practical problem-solving abilities that allow you to address issues proactively alongside your teams.
  • Experience working with cloud-based architectures or microservices environments is highly desirable for those looking to bring modern best practices into play.
