  • Guide an engineering team in designing, developing, and maintaining the essential services that power a scalable e-commerce platform capable of handling significant transaction volumes.
  • Work collaboratively with Product Managers, Designers, Marketing professionals, and Data Scientists to align technical initiatives with business goals and customer needs.

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent practical experience demonstrating deep technical understanding.
  • At least eight years of hands-on software development experience utilising languages such as Java or Python within complex environments.
  • A minimum of three years spent in technical leadership roles managing large-scale projects with at least two years directly leading teams within the e-commerce sector.
  • Proven track record of developing and scaling high-traffic web applications or e-commerce platforms over at least two years.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of microservices architecture principles as well as distributed system design for robust service delivery.
  • Practical expertise with major cloud platforms like AWS, GCP or Azure along with Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g., Terraform), containerisation (Kubernetes/Docker), and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Exceptional communication skills enabling effective collaboration across diverse teams including product management, design, marketing, and data science functions.
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive under pressure while balancing multiple priorities in fast-evolving environments.
  • Familiarity with Agile frameworks such as Scrum or Kanban supporting efficient project execution within engineering teams.
  • Preferred: An advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in Computer Science or related discipline; experience with payment processing systems; knowledge of security protocols (OAuth/OIDC/PCI-DSS); familiarity with AI-driven personalisation; proficiency in website performance optimisation; background in data analysis or A/B testing for operational improvements.
