Reporting to the CEO, you will shape technical direction, lead cross-functional teams, and ensure high-quality delivery across backend, frontend, and mobile development. This role balances people leadership with technical oversight in a collaborative, inclusive, and flexible working environment.

What you'll do:

  • Lead an engineering team of approximately 10 members across backend, frontend, and mobile development functions by providing clear guidance and fostering an environment of collaboration.
  • Take ownership of engineering leadership responsibilities with an emphasis on management execution while remaining involved in technical development and architecture review.
  • Establish, refine, and continuously improve development processes as well as team structure to promote best practices throughout the engineering function.
  • Guide technical direction by making informed architecture decisions that keep systems scalable, maintainable, and aligned with evolving business goals.
  • Manage team performance through effective resource allocation, mentoring, and capability development to support long-term organisational growth.
  • Act as a key partner to the CEO and other stakeholders by enabling transparent cross-functional communication and driving successful execution of strategic initiatives.
  • Assess technical trade-offs in project planning while providing clear guidance to your team without requiring hands-on coding as your primary responsibility.
  • Champion a culture of knowledge sharing, dependability, inclusivity, and continuous improvement within the engineering department.

What you bring:

  • Demonstrated expertise in backend development with hands-on experience in Node.js or PHP environments , allowing you to provide knowledgeable guidance to your team.
  • Proven track record managing cross-functional engineering teams within modern software development lifecycles such as Agile or Scrum methodologies.
  • Ability to assess complex technical trade-offs during project planning while offering clear direction without needing to be hands-on with coding tasks.
  • Experience establishing or refining development processes that promote best practices across diverse engineering functions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills that enable you to collaborate effectively with Product, QA, executive stakeholders, and your own team members.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive environment where knowledge sharing is encouraged and every voice is valued.
  • Capacity for mentoring engineers at various stages of their careers while supporting their professional growth through dependable leadership.
  • Excellent communication abilities for facilitating transparent cross-functional dialogue between technical teams and business leaders.
