What you'll do:

As a Backend and Artificial Intelligence Engineer based in Taipei, you will immerse yourself in the full lifecycle of advanced voice communication systems. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve designing robust backend infrastructures for VoIP and chat platforms while ensuring seamless operation through diligent database management. You will have the chance to apply your expertise in integrating artificial intelligence into IVR flows—making every interaction smarter for end users. Working alongside a collaborative team spanning multiple disciplines, you will help drive continuous improvement initiatives that keep the platform reliable, scalable, and responsive to evolving business needs. Your contributions will be vital in maintaining high standards for call quality while supporting new feature rollouts that push the boundaries of what’s possible in cloud-based communications.

  • Design, implement, and maintain sophisticated VoIP and chat platforms that form the backbone of modern communication services.
  • Develop and manage backend services as well as web servers and APIs to ensure seamless integration between various system components.
  • Optimise and maintain both SQL and NoSQL databases, focusing on schema design, query performance, data modelling, and effective management of call detail records as well as user session data.
  • Build, integrate, and support AI-powered Interactive Voice Response (IVR) applications that enhance user experience through intelligent automation.
  • Continuously monitor system performance, tune infrastructure for optimal voice quality, and proactively address any issues affecting reliability or scalability.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including product managers, QA specialists, DevOps engineers, frontend developers, and customer support staff to deliver cohesive solutions.
  • Leverage AWS and Azure cloud services to architect, build, scale, and maintain resilient applications capable of handling high volumes of traffic.
  • Participate in operational maintenance activities such as troubleshooting complex network or protocol issues across media layers and applying root-cause analysis to resolve incidents efficiently.

  • Proven ability in backend development using languages like Python, Java or C/C++, with hands-on experience designing RESTful APIs or WebSocket interfaces integrated with telephony systems.
  • Expertise managing both SQL and NoSQL databases including schema design best practices, query optimisation techniques, data modelling strategies for call detail/user session information.
  • Demonstrated competence deploying web/API servers within Linux environments; familiarity with containerisation technologies (e.g., Docker), server operations at scale, and reliability engineering principles.
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities—capable of debugging intricate issues across network/protocol/media/application layers using systematic root-cause analysis methods.
  • Clear communicator who collaborates effectively with cross-functional teams (product management, QA/testing groups, DevOps specialists) as well as external partners such as carriers or vendors when required.
  • Experience building or integrating AI-IVR solutions involving natural language processing or machine learning models is highly desirable but not mandatory.
