Senior Backend Developer (PHP)

Our client, a rapidly growing technology company in the digital payment and smart services domain, is looking for an experienced PHP Back-End Engineer to join their team in Taipei. This role focuses on building scalable, high-performance backend systems for a platform that connects local commerce, public services, and digital payment tools.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain backend systems and APIs using PHP (Laravel) to support web and mobile applications.
• Collaborate with frontend engineers, designers, and product managers to deliver reliable and user-friendly features.
• Design backend architecture, manage database structure and performance, and continuously enhance system scalability.

Requirements

• 4–6 years of experience in PHP Laravel backend development.
• Solid understanding of MySQL optimization (e.g., indexing, partitioning, transaction locks).
• Experience with Redis caching strategies (Sharding, Pipeline, LRU/LFU).
• Familiarity with Nginx, API Gateway architecture, and load balancing mechanisms.
• Proven experience with high-concurrency systems and message queues (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ, Pub/Sub).
• Experience working with cloud services (AWS, GCP) and container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Skilled in system analysis using UML and able to model transactional processes effectively.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in building systems for payments, loyalty programs, or membership management.
• Familiarity with microservices architecture and distributed systems.
• Knowledge of CI/CD processes and DevOps/SRE best practices.
• Understanding of data consistency models (ACID, SAGA, 2PC) and distributed locking mechanisms.
• Awareness of security practices such as OAuth, JWT, and API rate limiting.
• Experience with system monitoring and observability tools (ELK, Grafana, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry).
