Principal Facilities Engineer - Gas & Chemical Expert

A global semiconductor leader is seeking a Staff Engineer – Gas Expert to provide regional technical leadership across North Asia. Acting as the subject matter expert for gas engineering, you will drive standardisation, reliability improvement, and engineering alignment across multiple sites. The role also supports large-scale fab expansion projects from design through ramp-up, ensuring operational excellence, performance optimisation, and full EHS compliance.

A leading global semiconductor company is seeking a Staff Engineer – Gas Expert to provide regional technical leadership across North Asia. This role acts as the subject matter expert (SME) for gas engineering, supporting multiple fab sites in operations, construction, reliability, and sustainability initiatives.

This is a strategic-level position responsible for driving standardisation, best known methods (BKM), engineering alignment, and performance optimisation across the regional network.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Governance

• Serve as the regional Gas Engineering SME supporting site Facilities and Manufacturing teams

• Develop, review, and uphold system standards, specifications, and Best Known Methods (BKMs)

• Drive standardisation and alignment across North Asia sites in engineering practices and maintenance strategies

• Analyse system performance to improve efficiency, reliability, and cost effectiveness

Construction & Expansion Support

• Support large-scale fab infrastructure expansion projects from design to ramp-up

• Review construction packages and ensure alignment with global standards and regulatory requirements

• Provide technical guidance on cost estimates, system selection, and change management

• Coordinate consultants and internal stakeholders to ensure project objectives are met

Reliability & Continuous Improvement

• Lead reliability program alignment and operational best practice benchmarking across sites

• Support problem-solving and root cause analysis using structured methodologies

• Monitor system trends and capacity planning data to proactively identify risks and optimisation opportunities

Sustainability & Global Initiatives

• Contribute to global sustainability programs including emissions, energy, water, wastewater, and green infrastructure initiatives

• Establish and promote global top practices in facilities operations and maintenance reliability

EHS Ownership

• Ensure full compliance with safety, environmental, and local regulatory standards

• Support gas team adherence to permit policies and hazard management practices

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Environmental, or related field)

• Strong experience in Gas Engineering within semiconductor facility operations or infrastructure projects

• Proven ability to troubleshoot, conduct root cause analysis, and drive system improvements

• Strong cross-functional communication skills and ability to influence regional stakeholders

• Fluent English communication (additional languages are a plus)
