Customer Service Engineer

Our client is a global leader in the manufacturing of scanning acoustic microscopes and non-destructive testing equipment, specialising in semiconductor packages and wafers.

What you'll do:

As a Customer Service Engineer, you will play a crucial role in coordinating and performing customer service activities. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include performing application studies, developing testing procedures, managing the customer service queue, estimating repair times, maintaining records of work performed, travelling to customer sites for installations and training sessions, managing spare parts inventory, and staying updated on the latest technologies. Your technical expertise combined with your strong interpersonal skills will be key to your success in this role.

  • Perform application studies of customer samples and submit reports outlining findings.
  • Develop testing procedures to effectively meet customer expectations.
  • Coordinate customer service, manage service queue, and deploy parts as needed.
  • Estimate repair time required, amount of personnel, parts, and equipment required for supporting customers.
  • Maintain records of work hours, parts utilised, and work performed for each service call.
  • Travel to customer sites to perform installation, training, and on-site support.
  • Manage spare parts inventory and monitor component replacement status.
  • Stay informed of the latest technology and applications offered.

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for the Customer Service Engineer position brings a wealth of experience in equipment automation along with strong problem-solving abilities. You should have a degree in a technical field such as Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or Applied Sciences. Your 3-10 years of professional field service experience supporting automation or instrumentation capital equipment will be invaluable in this role. Strong written, verbal, analytical leadership and interpersonal skills are essential. Knowledge of ultrasonic inspection and microelectronics would be advantageous. Fluency in English is required; proficiency in Mandarin or other Asian languages would be a plus.

  • Degree in a Technical field (Electrical and/or Mechanical), Applied Sciences or Engineering or equivalent education or experience.
  • Specific experience in equipment automation (motion, electrical and software interface).
  • Strong written, verbal, analytical leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven problem-solving skills.
  • 3-10 years of professional field service experience supporting automation or instrumentation capital equipment.
  • Ability to organise work and meet deadlines.
  • Written and spoken English is required. Mandarin or other Asian languages are a plus.
  • Knowledge of ultrasonic inspection.
  • Knowledge of microelectronics.
