A leading global organisation is seeking a Country Manager to provide overall leadership and accountability for their operations and presence in Taiwan. This pivotal role offers you the opportunity to serve as the senior site and country leader, responsible for driving operational excellence, nurturing talent, engaging customers, and aligning with the company’s global strategy.

What you'll do:

As Country Manager in Taiwan, you will play a central role in shaping the future of advanced photonics and Co-Packaged Optics operations. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve guiding multi-functional teams across commercial, technical, operational, and support domains while ensuring alignment with global strategies. You will nurture talent through inclusive leadership practices that promote engagement and professional growth. Building strong relationships with strategic customers will be essential as you facilitate executive-level interactions aimed at resolving issues and planning roadmaps. By partnering with global leaders on business strategy execution—including capacity planning—you will help drive investment decisions that support regional growth. Governance is paramount; you will oversee compliance with regulatory standards while championing organisational values. Success in this role requires you to foster collaboration between local teams and international stakeholders while monitoring market developments to inform ongoing strategy. Representing the organisation at industry events will further solidify its reputation as a leader in high-technology sectors.

  • Serve as the senior leader for all operations in Taiwan, taking responsibility for region-wide performance and ensuring alignment with global objectives across commercial, operations, technology, and support functions.
  • Support leadership teams responsible for manufacturing, engineering, quality assurance, operations management, and all support functions within the region.
  • Act as a key interface to strategic customers and partners in Taiwan by facilitating executive engagement, roadmap planning sessions, issue resolution processes, and long-term relationship building initiatives.
  • Partner closely with global leadership to execute business strategies that include capacity planning and investment priorities tailored specifically for Taiwan.
  • Ensure robust governance practices by overseeing compliance with regulatory requirements, environmental standards, and corporate policies across all site activities.
  • Champion organisational culture by promoting core values and talent development programmes that foster an engaged and high-performing workforce.
  • Drive operational excellence through continuous improvement initiatives that enhance productivity and quality within advanced photonics and Co-Packaged Optics environments.
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration between local teams and global stakeholders to ensure seamless execution of business plans.
  • Monitor market trends within the semiconductor and photonics sectors to inform strategic decision-making and maintain competitive advantage.
  • Represent the organisation at industry events in Taiwan to strengthen brand presence and network with key players in the ecosystem.

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for Country Manager brings extensive experience from high-technology industries such as semiconductors or photonics. Your proven ability to guide large-scale organisations ensures you can manage complex operations while maintaining accountability at both site and country levels. You possess deep knowledge of engineering principles relevant to manufacturing environments where precision matters most. Your established network within Taiwan’s photonics or semiconductor ecosystem allows you to engage effectively with strategic customers. Experience navigating global matrixed structures equips you to collaborate seamlessly with international colleagues on business strategy execution. Your interpersonal skills enable you to communicate clearly across cultures while influencing diverse teams toward shared goals. Academic credentials—including fluency in Mandarin and English—further position you as a trusted leader capable of bridging local expertise with global vision.

  • Over twelve years of progressive experience in technology leadership or general management roles within semiconductors, photonics, advanced packaging or related high-technology industries is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead large multi-function organisations with full site or country-level accountability is essential for success.
  • Established relationships within the photonics or semiconductor customer base and ecosystem in Taiwan are highly valued.
  • Comprehensive understanding of semiconductor and photonics technology as well as engineering principles relevant to manufacturing operations in high-precision environments is necessary.
  • Proven track record of effective leadership within global matrixed organisations including successful partnerships with regional and international stakeholders is expected.
  • Experience working directly with strategic customers—especially executive-level engagement—and managing issue escalation processes is important.
  • Exceptional business acumen combined with strong communication skills enables you to influence diverse teams across cultures.
  • Bachelor’s degree is required (preferably in Engineering or technical discipline); an advanced degree or MBA would be advantageous.
  • Fluency in Mandarin and English is strongly preferred to facilitate cross-cultural communication within regional teams.
