What you'll do:
As a Legal Director based in Taipei, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing all global legal affairs for a forward-thinking technology organisation. Your responsibilities will include partnering with senior leadership to manage legal risks across multiple jurisdictions while providing expert counsel on litigation strategies, business operations, HR matters, contract negotiation, M&A transactions, intellectual property development, statutory compliance, Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) adherence, SEC regulations, government project support, data privacy, and U.S. compliance requirements.
Success in this role requires fostering collaboration within the legal team and across departments, delivering clear guidance on complex matters, and mentoring team members. You will also lead corporate policy development and internal training programs to ensure awareness of key compliance topics. Leveraging your extensive experience in contract review and negotiation, as well as your knowledge of international regulations—including UK intellectual property and U.S. compliance—you will help drive the organisation’s mission of creating smarter cities and safer communities through innovative technology solutions.
Key responsibilities:

- Provide guidance and mentorship to the legal team, promoting a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment.
- Advise senior management on litigation strategies, business operations, human resources-related legal matters, and risk mitigation approaches.
- Review, draft, and negotiate complex commercial and corporate contracts to support business objectives and safeguard organisational interests.
- Support group-level M&A and capital market transactions by providing expert legal counsel throughout all stages.
- Offer guidance on intellectual property compliance and development, including UK-specific regulations and best practices.
- Manage statutory compliance processes, develop corporate policies, and deliver internal training to raise awareness across departments.
- Advise on SOX compliance and other SEC-related regulatory requirements relevant to the organisation’s activities.
- Collaborate with teams supporting government projects to ensure all legal aspects are addressed effectively.
- Proactively contribute to the continuous improvement of internal processes related to data privacy and regulatory reporting.

You will have exceptional cross-functional communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with diverse teams, including government project stakeholders. Professional fluency in English is mandatory. Candidates with prior experience supporting group-level M&A transactions or litigation, and adaptability when working on public sector initiatives, will be highly regarded.
