What you'll do:
- Plan and participate in comprehensive penetration tests as well as red team and blue team exercises to proactively identify vulnerabilities across internal systems.
- Investigate system security weaknesses by conducting thorough assessments, validating discovered issues, and collaborating on effective remediation strategies.
- Provide actionable recommendations to enhance defensive frameworks and improve overall system processes based on your findings from security evaluations.
- Perform reverse engineering on malware samples to uncover threat intelligence and inform future defensive measures against emerging risks.
- Utilise your understanding of Windows, Linux, and Mac OS environments to assess potential attack vectors within diverse operating systems.
- Apply your knowledge of TCP/IP protocols to analyse network traffic patterns for signs of compromise or unusual activity.
- Leverage scripting languages such as Bash, PowerShell, or Python to automate routine tasks related to vulnerability scanning or incident response.
- Employ industry-standard cyber security tools—including C2 infrastructure management platforms, Nmap, Burp Suite—to conduct detailed technical analyses.
- Collaborate closely with DevOps teams to ensure robust security practices are integrated into public cloud deployments and containerised application environments.
- Document all findings clearly and communicate results effectively with both technical teams and non-technical stakeholders.
What you bring:
- Demonstrated experience working with Windows, Linux, and Mac OS operating systems in a cyber security context, enabling you to assess threats across multiple platforms.
- Comprehensive understanding of TCP/IP protocols that allows you to analyse network communications for potential vulnerabilities or malicious activity.
- Proficiency in conducting threat analysis on basic information system architectures, supporting proactive identification of risks before they escalate.
- Familiarity with penetration techniques applicable within DevOps workflows as well as public cloud and containerised environments such as AWS or Docker.
- Advanced scripting abilities using languages like Bash, PowerShell, or Python for automating repetitive tasks related to vulnerability assessment or incident response.
- Hands-on experience utilising cyber security tools including C2 infrastructure management solutions, Nmap for network mapping, and Burp Suite for web application testing.
- Strong analytical mindset paired with attention to detail when performing reverse engineering on malware samples or investigating complex incidents.
- Excellent written communication skills for documenting findings clearly along with verbal skills for presenting results to both technical peers and business stakeholders.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams while maintaining a dependable approach towards shared objectives.
