What you'll do:
As an Internet Data Centre Network Engineer based in Nangang, you will be entrusted with ensuring the seamless operation of critical network infrastructure that underpins essential business functions. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve designing resilient architectures for data centre connectivity, overseeing the integration of new technologies into established systems, and collaborating with colleagues across departments to deliver dependable solutions. You will monitor equipment health continuously, respond rapidly to incidents with empathy for affected users, and contribute your insights during audits or post-incident reviews. Success in this role requires not only technical proficiency but also a considerate approach to teamwork—sharing knowledge generously while supporting others through challenges. Your efforts will help maintain high standards of reliability, security, and operational excellence throughout the organisation’s digital ecosystem.
- Design, construct, and operate Internet Data Centre (IDC) networks as well as manage Internet interconnection lines such as IX and Transit to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Oversee the design, construction, and operation of network connections between multiple IDC locations, supporting business continuity and scalability.
- Monitor all network equipment proactively to identify potential issues before they impact service delivery, using advanced tools and best practices.
- Operate and maintain all aspects of the network infrastructure, including troubleshooting incidents swiftly to minimise downtime and ensure service quality.
- Review new technologies and products regularly, integrating them into existing business environments to enhance efficiency and security.
- Respond promptly to problems by managing incidents effectively, conducting thorough audit reviews, and implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to align network operations with broader organisational goals while maintaining compliance with industry standards.
- Document all processes meticulously to support transparency, knowledge transfer, and regulatory requirements within the organisation.
- Participate in capacity planning activities by forecasting future needs based on current trends and anticipated business growth.
- Support cost management initiatives by evaluating resource utilisation and recommending optimisations for both hardware and connectivity.
What you bring:
To excel as an Internet Data Centre Network Engineer in this role, you will bring extensive hands-on experience managing sophisticated data centre networks at scale. Your background should include deep familiarity with routing protocols such as BGP and OSPF along with practical know-how around multi-chassis link aggregation setups. You are comfortable navigating both hardware selection processes for WAN/Internet lines as well as contract negotiations with external vendors. Your technical toolkit includes foundational Linux server skills plus direct exposure to cabling layouts and device maintenance. Communication comes naturally to you—in both English and Chinese—enabling smooth interactions across diverse teams. Ideally you have worked on financial industry networks or similar high-stakes environments where precision matters most. Experience with major networking brands (Cisco/Juniper/Arista) as well as security appliances further strengthens your profile. Your analytical mindset helps you spot inefficiencies quickly while your project coordination abilities ensure successful delivery even when juggling competing priorities.
- At least ten years’ experience building, operating, improving, and troubleshooting Internet Data Centre networks within complex environments.
- Comprehensive understanding of BGP (Border Gateway Protocol), OSPF (Open Shortest Path First), MC-LAG (Multi-Chassis Link Aggregation Group), FHRP (First Hop Redundancy Protocol), and Access Control Lists (ACLs).
- Proven ability to select appropriate WAN/Internet lines for diverse requirements as well as negotiate contracts with service providers effectively.
- Solid foundation in Linux server administration coupled with hands-on experience managing cabling infrastructure, physical devices, modules, transceivers, and power supplies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Chinese are essential for effective collaboration across multicultural teams.
- Experience designing, building, or operating network infrastructure specifically tailored for financial industry applications is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with enterprise-grade networking hardware such as Cisco routers/switches, Juniper MX series devices, Arista platforms; plus firewalls like PaloAlto or Fortigate; load balancers including F5 or A10.
- Demonstrated capability in managing capacity planning processes—balancing costs against resources while anticipating future needs accurately.
- Track record of examining operational workflows critically to identify areas for improvement that enhance efficiency without compromising security or reliability.
- Project control experience or skills that enable you to coordinate complex initiatives involving multiple stakeholders.
