This role is at the heart of building and integrating advanced Android-based and Linux-based platforms for next-generation devices, shaping the future technology.

What you'll do:

  • Develop, enhance, and maintain robust Android and Linux platform code tailored specifically for company's devices to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Integrate application frameworks as well as system-level services that support advanced product's functionalities across various hardware configurations.
  • Collaborate extensively with cross-functional teams located in Taiwan, the United States, India, and external ODM vendors to drive Android OS and Linux OS customisation efforts.
  • Participate actively in device integration processes and conduct thorough debugging across all system components including framework layers, HAL, kernel modules, and application interfaces.
  • Work closely with reader engine specialists and app development teams to guarantee seamless integration between software layers and consistent high-quality performance.
  • Contribute meaningfully to code reviews by providing constructive feedback while also engaging in detailed debugging sessions and performance tuning activities for Android and Linux platform components.
  • Partner with ODM collaborators to validate firmware updates or platform modifications ensuring smooth integration into existing systems without disruption.
  • Support ongoing platform bring-up initiatives by identifying bottlenecks early and proposing effective solutions that enhance overall device stability.
  • Document technical findings clearly for internal knowledge bases while sharing best practices with peers across different locations.
  • Stay up to date on emerging trends in Android/Linux development and proactively suggest improvements or new approaches.

What you bring:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline demonstrating foundational technical expertise.
  • Three to ten years of proven experience working on Android and Linux platforms or system development projects within multidisciplinary environments.
  • Advanced proficiency in C/C++ programming combined with solid object-oriented design principles applied to real-world problems.
  • Hands-on experience utilising the Android NDK alongside multi-threaded and asynchronous programming techniques for efficient resource management.
  • Demonstrated ability to debug complex issues at both software and hardware interface levels while performing targeted performance tuning.
  • Practical background in porting Android and Linux platforms or integrating frameworks into diverse hardware ecosystems.
  • Familiarity with Git version control systems as well as modern collaborative development workflows supporting distributed teams.
  • Clear verbal and written English communication skills enabling effective interaction with global colleagues and documentation of technical concepts.
