What you'll do

  • Design, implement, and rigorously test new Linux kernel features tailored to meet evolving business requirements across various device platforms.
  • Automate comprehensive testing processes for key system capabilities and performance metrics on targeted hardware devices, ensuring reliability and efficiency.
  • Support a broad range of existing and future devices by developing common solutions that streamline integration and maintenance efforts.
  • Integrate third-party drivers—both source and binary—for essential device components such as E Ink displays, WiFi modules, Bluetooth connectivity, and more.
  • Develop custom device drivers including advanced power management solutions to optimise device functionality and energy consumption.
  • Collaborate closely with hardware manufacturing partners to diagnose complex functional or performance issues at the system level.
  • Debug intricate multi-component problems within the operating system stack, identifying root causes and implementing robust fixes.
  • Identify system performance bottlenecks through detailed analysis and drive effective optimisations or solutions to enhance overall device operation.
  • Work hand-in-hand with cross-functional teams—including software engineers, hardware designers, and QA specialists—to deliver seamless product experiences.

What you bring:

  • Demonstrated proficiency in Linux kernel development encompassing new board bring-up tasks as well as managing multiple device configurations simultaneously.
  • Extensive experience in integrating and developing device drivers for various hardware components within embedded systems environments.
  • Advanced C programming skills focused on system software development practices including source control management (preferably git), bug tracking workflows, comprehensive testing strategies, and thorough design documentation.
  • Strong verbal English communication abilities enabling effective collaboration with international teams and stakeholders.
  • Solid understanding of electronics principles coupled with proven ability to work collaboratively alongside hardware designers during all phases of product development.
  • In-depth knowledge of operating system internals including device trees which underpin efficient driver integration and configuration management.
  • Track record of successful teamwork within cross-functional groups comprising software engineers, QA professionals, hardware partners, and other key contributors.
