What you'll do:
- Act as the subject matter expert for high-speed switch hardware technologies such as SerDes, signal integrity, thermal management, and power delivery, setting technical direction for all related projects.
- Define long-term hardware roadmaps in close collaboration with R&D leadership, ensuring alignment with organisational strategy and emerging market trends.
- Partner with R&D leads on feasibility studies to assess new concepts and technologies for integration into future products.
- Work alongside system leads to integrate architectural solutions that meet both performance targets and customer requirements.
- Coordinate with technical programme managers to align milestones and deliverables, facilitating smooth transitions between project phases.
- Serve as the primary technical contact for key customers, translating their needs into detailed hardware specifications and offering expert-level support during critical design phases.
- Conduct comprehensive reviews of PCB layouts, high-speed routing strategies, and component selection processes to identify potential risks before prototyping begins.
- Monitor industry trends such as 800G/1.6T transitions and CPO/LPO technologies, performing competitive analyses to guide internal development priorities.
- Mentor senior engineers and staff members by providing guidance on technical challenges, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation within the team.
What you bring:
- Education: You hold a B.S./M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related field
- Experience: You bring at least 18 years of hands-on experience in hardware engineering focused on high-speed networking or data centre switch hardware.
- Domain Expertise: Your deep understanding of switching silicon—including Broadcom, Marvell or proprietary ASICs—enables you to make informed decisions about architecture and component selection.
- High-Speed Design: You possess advanced expertise in PAM4 modulation techniques, PCIe Gen5/6 protocols, and 112G/224G SerDes technologies relevant to modern switch platforms.
- Signal & Power Integrity: You are familiar with SI/PI simulation tools and methodologies essential for robust hardware design.
- Collaboration Skills: Your proven track record demonstrates your ability to influence cross-functional teams (R&D, TPMs, System Architecture) even without direct reporting authority.
- Strategic Communication: You excel at articulating complex technical concepts clearly to both C-suite executives and external customer stakeholders.
- Problem Solving: You have led task force efforts to resolve critical hardware bugs or design bottlenecks under pressure in fast-moving environments.
