Engineering Manager (Linux Expert)

What you'll do:
- Motivate, mentor, and enable your team members to succeed in delivering high-quality products that meet customer expectations.

- Maximise individual results within your team by supporting their ongoing career growth through regular feedback and tailored development plans.
- Coordinate closely with project managers as well as hardware, quality assurance, and certification management teams to ensure seamless project delivery.
- Monitor projects from initial kickoff through post-mortem reviews, handling escalations with empathy and professionalism when challenges arise.
- Communicate openly with OEMs, ODMs, SiPs, and IHVs to understand technical requirements and resolve complex issues collaboratively.
- Prioritise customer requests from around the globe by balancing business needs with technical feasibility in a considerate manner.
- Collaborate regularly with product engineering teams, including Desktop, Foundations, Kernel, and Security to share knowledge and align on best practices.
- Guide methodologies, strategies, standards, tools, and best practices that foster continuous improvement within your team.
- Be prepared to travel internationally once restrictions lift to strengthen relationships with global partners.
What you bring:
- A Bachelor’s degree or higher in the engineering field with over 10 years of embedded development experience.
- A proven track record in technical roles involving Linux systems showcases your deep understanding of open-source platforms.
- Commitment to robust development and testing methodologies ensures you consistently deliver maintainable code of high quality.
- Experience managing teams highlights your ability to support others’ growth while achieving shared objectives together.
- Your collaborative approach enables you to work effectively within diverse teams spread across different locations.
- Self-discipline and motivation empower you to remain productive even when working remotely as part of a globally distributed network.
- Dedication to meeting deadlines reflects your sense of responsibility towards both customers and colleagues alike.
- Excellent communication skills in both English and Chinese allow you to connect easily with international partners.

- Experience making technical decisions as a tech lead demonstrates your capacity for thoughtful guidance within engineering teams.
- Familiarity with software architecture/design or hands-on development using technologies such as Ubuntu kernel/userspace, deb/snap packaging, QEMU/KVM, LXC/LXD containers, Python/Go/C/bash/PostgreSQL/Mongo/Kubernetes/OpenStack/Ceph/AI/ML enhances your versatility.
- Participation in open-source development projects shows your commitment to communal progress within the industry.
- Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines further strengthens your operational skillset.
