This is an exceptional opportunity for you to shape the future of next-generation webcams, where your expertise will directly influence the visual experience enjoyed by millions worldwide.

What you'll do:

  • Take ownership of the webcam’s Image Signal Processor pipeline by fine-tuning parameters such as Black Level, Demosaic, Gamma, Colour Correction Matrix, and 3D Noise Reduction to deliver crystal-clear video quality.
  • Calibrate and optimise Auto Exposure and Auto White Balance algorithms so that webcams adapt seamlessly to diverse lighting conditions including dim offices and challenging backlit environments.
  • Drive the tuning strategy for infrared sensors with a focus on contrast, uniformity, and signal integrity to enable secure biometric authentication for facial recognition systems.
  • Serve as the lead for image quality compliance by ensuring products meet or exceed objective testing criteria required for major communication platform certifications.
  • Utilise advanced video lab facilities to execute rigorous validation strategies that balance objective data with subjective evaluations for optimal user experience.
  • Collaborate closely with firmware engineers, optical engineers, and other technical teams to integrate tuning work into Embedded Linux builds for stable imaging systems.
  • Support qualification processes during engineering validation test (EVT), design validation test (DVT), and production validation test (PVT) stages by working alongside QA teams.
  • Work with test development engineers to establish robust production test criteria and provide debugging support during pilot builds.
  • Monitor evolving standards in video technology and identify opportunities for the organisation to maintain its competitive edge in webcam innovation.

What you bring:

  • Hold an MS degree in Computer Science or equivalent qualification with over 15 years of relevant experience in consumer electronics such as webcams, IP cameras, action cameras/drones, or dashcams.
  • Demonstrate at least 8 years of hands-on experience in Image Signal Processing tuning specifically within consumer electronics applications.
  • Show proficiency in tuning ISPs on embedded System-on-Chip platforms, including Ambarella, Novatek, HiSilicon, Realtek, Qualcomm; experience with Sigmastar is highly desirable.
  • Exhibit deep understanding of colour science principles, including radiometry, photometry, camera optics as well as familiarity with imaging standards like Rec.709, BT.2020 and certification requirements for Microsoft Teams, Zoom or Windows Hello.
  • Have proven track record in optimising Auto Exposure and Auto White Balance parameters focusing on convergence speed, stability and weighting tables.
  • Display proficiency with image quality testing tools such as Imatest along with highly calibrated light sources; knowledge of VCX testing protocols is advantageous.
  • Be comfortable operating within Embedded Linux or RTOS environments using shell scripting, command line tools and interacting with V4L2 drivers.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills enabling effective collaboration across firmware engineering, optical engineering and QA teams throughout product development cycles.
  • Demonstrate commitment to continuous learning by staying abreast of evolving video technology standards and best practices within the industry.
