What you'll do:
- Lead the bring-up of Android Open Source Project (AOSP) platforms and drive system optimisation initiatives to ensure high levels of performance, stability, and scalability across diverse hardware configurations.
- Work collaboratively with Microsoft engineers, system-on-chip (SoC) vendors, and original design manufacturer (ODM) partners to integrate the Microsoft Device Ecosystem Platform (MDEP), delivering robust cross-platform solutions tailored for enterprise needs.
- Implement advanced security features such as secure boot processes, Trusted Execution Environment (TEE), Security-Enhanced Linux (SELinux), over-the-air (OTA) updates, and dm-verity to safeguard devices against emerging threats.
- Design maintainable software platforms that support seamless hardware bundle integration while enabling future scalability for evolving business requirements.
- Mentor junior engineers by conducting thorough code reviews, providing debugging assistance, and offering technical guidance to foster a supportive team environment.
- Participate actively in every stage of the software development lifecycle—from initial requirements analysis through deployment and ongoing maintenance—while consistently meeting quality standards and project timelines.
- Engage in cross-functional collaboration with global teams to ensure alignment with new product introduction (NPI) milestones and adoption of the latest industry best practices.
- Contribute to open-source Android projects or collaborate with ODMs/vendors to enhance platform capabilities and community engagement.
- Utilise Agile/Scrum methodologies within a multi-disciplinary engineering setting to deliver high-quality software solutions efficiently.
What you bring:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline is required for this position.
- At least five years of professional experience specialising in Android platform or system-level software development is essential for success in this role.
- Demonstrated hands-on expertise with AOSP bring-up processes, board support package (BSP) integration tasks, and Android framework development is necessary.
- Advanced proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++, Kotlin, Java, Python, as well as Shell scripting is expected.
- Experience configuring Linux kernels, managing Device Tree structures, and integrating device drivers into embedded systems is highly valued.
- Comprehensive understanding of Android security architecture—including secure boot mechanisms, TEE implementation, SELinux configuration, Keymaster/KeyMint HAL usage, OTA update strategies (A/B partitions; dynamic partitions)—is required.
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities combined with strong debugging skills when addressing complex system-level issues are vital attributes for this position.
- Effective communication skills in both English and Mandarin are important for collaborating within cross-cultural global teams.
- Prior experience integrating Microsoft Device Ecosystem Platform (MDEP) or similar cross-platform frameworks is advantageous.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Teams integration workflows, Azure cloud services utilisation, or other enterprise collaboration ecosystems would be beneficial.
- Contributions to open-source Android projects or previous involvement in collaborations with ODMs/vendors are considered assets.
- Experience working within Agile/Scrum frameworks as part of multi-disciplinary engineering teams is preferred.
- A background in leadership or mentorship roles—helping elevate overall team performance and technical standards—is highly regarded.
