Application Development Engineer

What you'll do:

• Engage closely with customers to guide them in selecting optimal cable solutions from the company’s extensive portfolio for their specific applications.
• Provide technical advice on product selection, system architecture, and integration best practices to ensure seamless implementation into customer systems.
• Offer constructive feedback on customer design decisions when necessary to maintain superior cable performance and reliability.
• Share valuable lessons learned by highlighting potential problem areas and recommending best practices throughout the project lifecycle.
• Create detailed mechanical designs of custom cable configurations supported by comprehensive engineering drawings for manufacturing and validation purposes.
• Develop and validate mockup systems using prototype cables to demonstrate ideal architectural layouts and performance benchmarks.
• Assist customers in architecting compute trays for efficient hardware layout and effective cable routing within their systems.
• Design robust cable management systems that guarantee proper routing, installation, removal, and overall performance of assemblies.
• Deliver onsite technical support at customer and ODM locations during early build phases, ensuring smooth integration and troubleshooting as needed.
• Conduct technical presentations and training sessions for both customers and internal sales or marketing teams to promote correct product usage and understanding.

What you bring:

• Demonstrated experience designing and developing high-speed connectors, cable assemblies, or cable assembly systems within a collaborative engineering environment.
• A minimum of 2-5 years’ experience in product development or design roles focused on mechanical or electrical components relevant to interconnect solutions.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred; alternatively, 5+ years of directly related experience in the field will be considered.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks or other CAD software tools used for detailed mechanical design documentation and modelling.
• Exceptional technical problem-solving abilities combined with strong interpersonal skills for initiating productive discussions in highly technical settings.
• Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects efficiently while maintaining clear communication with customers, ODMs, and internal teams throughout the development process.
• Experience providing technical support through presentations, training sessions, or direct customer engagement is highly desirable.
• Commitment to staying current with technological advancements in the connector/interconnection industry through ongoing learning and professional development.
• Capacity to collaborate effectively across global engineering divisions to deliver integrated interconnect solutions tailored to customer needs.
