What you'll do:
As a Tooling Engineering Technical Manager based in Vietnam, you will be entrusted with overseeing the full lifecycle of tooling engineering projects for diversified manufacturing operations. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve close collaboration with engineers and suppliers as you guide new product introductions from concept through to mass production readiness. You will play a vital part in optimising tooling designs for metal mechanical components, ensuring every aspect—from structure layout to material selection—meets rigorous performance criteria. By leading qualification efforts for new tooling solutions and supporting ongoing production activities with effective troubleshooting strategies, you will help maintain seamless operations while upholding exceptional quality standards. Routine supplier audits will further reinforce your commitment to excellence as you work together with colleagues in an environment that values teamwork, shared learning, and mutual support.
- Participate actively in New Product Introduction (NPI) processes from initial product design review through to finalisation of Design for Manufacturability (DFM), providing expert guidance on tooling, moulding, and mechanical design with a particular focus on metal mechanical parts.
- Conduct comprehensive tooling design reviews alongside Mechanical Engineers (ME) and suppliers to ensure robust tooling structures and stable mass production outcomes.
- Contribute significantly to the optimisation of tooling structures, including layout design, hot-runner systems, texture selection, material choices, and negotiation of lead times to meet project requirements.
- Lead the development and qualification of new secondary tooling solutions, ensuring all deliverables meet stringent quality standards.
- Oversee mass production tooling sustaining activities, proactively troubleshooting issues to maintain consistent output quality.
- Support production lines by resolving abnormal issues efficiently, minimising downtime and ensuring smooth operations.
- Perform routine audits of mechanical parts suppliers across Vietnam to uphold high standards of quality and compliance.
- Engage collaboratively with internal teams and external partners to share best practices, foster knowledge exchange, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
