What you'll do:

  • Design, develop, and port server Baseboard Management Controller (BMC) firmware tailored for enterprise-grade hardware platforms.
  • Contribute to the architecture and implementation of embedded Linux systems, ensuring robust performance and reliability across diverse server environments.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex issues related to both hardware and firmware layers, applying systematic troubleshooting techniques to maintain optimal system functionality.
  • Develop drivers for embedded systems, integrating seamlessly with various hardware components while maintaining code quality standards.
  • Port Linux kernels for specific System-on-Chip (SoC) architectures, adapting open-source solutions to meet unique project requirements.
  • Apply deep understanding of IPMI (Intelligent Platform Management Interface), IKVM (Keyboard Video Mouse over IP), Redfish protocols, and associated management tools to enhance remote server management capabilities.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including hardware engineers, software developers, and QA specialists to deliver integrated solutions on schedule.
  • Document technical designs, implementation details, and troubleshooting procedures clearly for internal knowledge sharing and future reference.
  • Mentor junior engineers by providing guidance on best practices in embedded system development and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Stay current with emerging trends in server management technologies and proactively recommend enhancements or new approaches.

What you bring:

  • Demonstrated experience of at least three years designing AMI BMC or OpenBMC solutions for enterprise servers, showcasing your depth of knowledge in this specialised field.
  • Proven track record in developing embedded Linux systems within complex hardware environments, highlighting your ability to deliver reliable solutions under challenging conditions.
  • Comprehensive understanding of troubleshooting methodologies applicable to both hardware faults and firmware anomalies within server platforms.
  • Hands-on expertise in driver coding for embedded systems, ensuring efficient communication between software layers and physical devices.
  • Practical experience with Linux kernel porting tailored for specific System-on-Chip (SoC) architectures relevant to modern servers.
  • In-depth familiarity with industry-standard management protocols such as IPMI, IKVM, Redfish, as well as associated monitoring tools used in large-scale deployments.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills enabling effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams while contributing positively to shared objectives.
