Accounting Manager

A leading organisation in Taipei City is seeking an Accounting Manager to join their knowledgeable and supportive team. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the vision and strategy of the accounting division, driving operational efficiency through automation and process enhancement. You will be at the heart of compliance, ensuring all statutory, local, and HQ reporting requirements are met with precision and care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define the long-term vision and strategy for the accounting division while establishing clear objectives broken down into actionable plans that drive monthly report enhancement and operational efficiency.
  • Oversee the preparation of daily, monthly, and annual financial reports for statutory purposes as well as local management and headquarters reporting requirements.
  • Coordinate the annual audit process to ensure all accounting records comply with Taiwan GAAP & IFRS standards and are submitted promptly to relevant parties.
  • Ensure full compliance with local tax regulations by completing tax returns accurately and on time while addressing any tax-related queries from internal or external stakeholders.
  • Streamline accounting operations to shorten month-end closing periods by developing KPIs tracking across A/R, AP, and G/L teams to identify exceptions and detect irregularities early.
  • Provide Local Controlling with thorough explanations regarding variances between actual results versus previous year figures while ensuring all exceptions are reported accurately.
  • Perform reconciliations for payroll, professional fees, rental expenses, interest expenses, income tax, and other accounts; review BOFC reporting units and master data for completeness.
  • Act as project leader for ad-hoc assignments by guiding project teams towards successful completion within deadlines while identifying risks and assessing impacts.

Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience in managing an accounting division within a medium or large organisation where you have defined strategic objectives aligned with business goals.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Taiwan GAAP & IFRS standards along with hands-on experience preparing statutory reports for local management as well as headquarters requirements.
  • Expertise in local tax regulations including timely completion of tax returns coupled with strong skills in responding to complex tax queries from various stakeholders.
  • Advanced proficiency in modifying Chart of Accounts regularly to meet changing business needs alongside maximising FI module reporting capabilities without reliance on spreadsheets.
  • Solid background in maintaining master data setups plus workflow changes within travel request/report systems such as Concur; proven track record collaborating with support teams for issue resolution.
  • Experience streamlining accounting operations by implementing KPIs tracking across A/R, AP, G/L teams which enables early detection of exceptions or irregularities during month-end closing cycles.
  • Strong analytical skills for performing reconciliations across payroll/professional/rental/interest/income tax accounts as well as reviewing BOFC reporting units/master data for completeness.
  • Exceptional people management abilities including resource allocation; hiring; conducting performance appraisals; setting objectives; developing staff via training/job rotation; motivating employees; succession planning.
